Are there any decent boxing podcasts out there that are relatively sensible and informative and offer good insight/breakdowns/analysis, I am not interested in the buddy/buddy aren't we hilarious type of podcasts which seem to be in the majority. I am also not after the agenda/promoter/fan perspective but am looking for something relatively objective. Most of the podcasts I have tried to date are total dross with the hosts trying to be bigger than the game. Thanks.
Their overtly anti-Matchroom/Hearn stance gets to me at times and I simply cannot understand some of the accents.
Doesn't really matter whether its UK or US as I am quite interested in both scenes. Ones I didn't like was Rogan, Atlas, Bunce, Nuthouse, anything LDBC. To give an example of what I do like, I quite often find myself listening to Montero.
Ok, so try these (in no particular order, all are US based): The Rope A Dope Radio Podcast; In The Corner Boxing Radio; The 3 Knockdown Rule; Boxing by Sunday Puncher; Leave it in the Ring Radio;
Thanks! I will give these a shot. Can you give me any rundown on the flavour/style of these podcasts?
I remember the Rope a Dope guys, most often I find they are discussing basketball or NFL which is not exactly what I was looking for.
It sounds like a good idea to me. You can find them all on player.fm, for example. Or any other place where you download podcasts from, most probably. The only thing worth mentioning is that Leave It in the Ring has quite distinctly different flavors depending on the host (they have several of them).
Thanks for the heads up. Just started listening to "The 3 Knockdown Rule" and it seems like it fits into my profile, so thanks once more.
Costello and Bunce is the only one I regularly listen to. Obviously very UK centric and Steve Bunce is an acquired taste, but they do get some excellent interviews and Mike Costello is a decent journalist with a love for the sport. I tried The Boxing Voice after it was suggested by the podcast app I use, but it was pretty dire.
Asian Boxing started one recently, though they tend to stick to their niche, so only worth a listen if you're interested in the scene over there
