Agreed. At 130 he was a serious boxer- puncher who took guys out; as he got older / bigger he could no longer do that. Although his rep was for tight defense, timing and potshots guys who fought him were surprised to find out how strong he was on the inside. FWIW, I’m also convinced he used PEDs but that’s not really here or there with me.

Nobody has mentioned Arguello yet, he was built like a pipe cleaner but managed to fight at the absolute top level from 126 - 140 pounds.

He was like Monzon and Saddler. One of those tall, lanky guys who are really strong.

    Cheers All.

Emile Griffith. He handled the immensely strong Tiger in the trenches just fine .

GREAT example although Emile did have a tremendous physique. He had a great set of shoulders on him.

Yeah, a number of the names mentioned don’t actually fit the criteria, considering that they looked like musclebound athletes carved from granite who most people would probably expect to be extremely strong.

True enough, I forgot that part of the question.

Look at my Avatar of Dempsey...Carpentier said that training for Dempsey his sparring partners were same size as Dempsey But no where near his strength. Dempsey strength surprised him. Dempsey does look freakishly strong for his size

Your right Frank Morans manager said Johnson would when clinching grab Morans bicep and squeeze the biceps so hard like your squeezing a tennis ball. Johnsons grip was so unbelievably powerful. That by the end of the fight Morans biceps were all black and blue he could barely lift his arms. Moran had to soak in epsom salt for hours he was so sore Johnson would also taunt Moran saying "Cmon get that ni*ger Frankie. while using the laces on his gloves. To rake them across Morans face

Johnson's average opponent was 6' 1 1/2"? I do not think so, what is the source please?

Now a wrist that is over 6' is completely unbelievable. Not remotely human...
Now if you meant inches, & that his wrist was slightly smaller than the average man...
    That would seem unlikely, yes.

Liston did not have the smallish legs you described, in looks or measurements.
Unlike Holyfield, especially Wilder, or Floyd here. Evidence:

In fact, given not being low body fat, even though he was not very tall, + his large bone structure & obvious muscle, & not being dried out like Foreman in some fights....

It is a mystery to me why he did not weigh ~ 20 lbs. more!

Have you seen the video of Dempsey shoving people about?

I think he did a lot of wrestling, and knowing how to get good leverages probably helps a lot too.

The average heavyweight champ's era has always been around 6'1" 195lbs-ish until the Cruiserweight division was created, in which the average shot up to 6'3" 220lbs-ish
