Joshua's physique is natural achievable, with his frame. But he's almost certainly on PEDs, not least because he's a professional athlete. Although there's a good chance he was taking steroids before he ever stepped foot in a boxing gym.
Joshua's physique is not natural at all and anyone that thinks so does not know what they are talking about. 245+lbs at 10%bf is in no way achievable naturally. What are you even basing that assertion on??
Well, firstly, the fact that I am 6'3 1/2 and at my physical peak and dieted down in hard training when I was age 25 I was ripped at 219 pounds. I don't know what my body fat % was but I had the striations in my triceps. Achieved without drugs but with fair-to-good genetics but certainly not anywhere near as gifted as Anthony Joshua. And he's 3 inches taller, which I'd estimate equates to 30 pounds extra, which is right. Secondly, the fact that I've known guys who achieved similar results while they were (I believe) drug-free too ... I'm talking about close friends and relatives who wouldn't bother to lie about being drug-free. Including people who subsequently DID go on the juice, and the difference when they were on was incredible ! I've been around gyms and training and fitness for almost 25 years. I'm not claiming to be the expert. But I know what I know. I'm all for people calling out the OBVIOUS "roid physiques" but there's a lot of BS is being spewed on the internet saying anyone with a bit of muscle or great definition must be using something.
Were your buddies doing the cardio work necessary to box 12 rounds? Hobby lifter myself, but that's the dead giveaway. You can train for size, speed, and explosion, but that all comes at the price of endurance. You can only achieve gains in all 4 as a rookie/novice. An established athlete like Joshua can't increase all 4 at the same time without a little "help".
Joshua doesn't appear to have gained much weight for a long time though. He did gain a bit of weight at one point but who's to say how much cardio he was doing at that point. Maybe he and his team were concentrating on gaining strength and bulk at the time? Joshua was also still at an age where he could still be growing into his full adult size.
On the fat free mass index as well as the observed changes in mass of athletes over time and the fact that he has put on 15lbs of lean muscle AFTER winning the Super HW gold medal in 2012. I can't post links so go to NoahVeltman com and find his NFL players height and weight over time. Steroids were available in the late 50's and growth hormone became popular in the late 80's early 90's. Look how obvious the influence of PEDs is... This trend follows in all contact sports and power sports. Joshua is a tier two PED user Tier 1) HW between the 60-90's who weighed between 210 and 230lbs. These guys were only on steroids and tended to be taller than the non-steroid era HW's (Liston, Ali, Norton, Lyle, Foreman, Tyson all fall into this category as do some modern HW's like Haye and Povetkin) Tier 2) Are on steroids and other things. These guys tend to be taller because they can put on lots of (inorganic) muscle without impeding their ranges of motion (Fury, Lewis, Wlad, Vitali, Price all fall into this category).
Does that really prove anything though? Joshua's FFMI isn't even necessarily in the supposed "impossible naturally" range. Is there even any real scientific proof that there is a definite absolute upper limit for naturally achievable FFMI? And what makes you so sure this is naturally impossible for a very tall young man?
I bet the guys who scream roids cheat every time they see a muscular boxer are the same guys who believe every whacky conspiracy theory they read on the web too.
Like i said before AJ has the ideal frame for bodybuilding wide shoulders with a narrow waist and hips, and a smallish bone structure. This gives the illusion if looking bigger than you are. Hense why when you see him in non fitted tight clothing he dosen't look anywhere near as huge other than being tall Look how tiny his waist is here, nearly as small as the girl next to him and also the t shirt is baggy on the arms, he doesn't look huge at all, just tall and broad. If he dropped 20-30lbs he would look skinny AF https://scontent-lhr3-1.cdninstagram.com/t51.2885-15/e35/13704298_1758610994396474_695632975_n.jpg?ig_cache_key=MTMyMTk0OTk5NDUwMDkxMzEzMQ%3D%3D.2
Well, he does gain weight here and there, but thats when he gets a bit more fat. For the Parker fight, he cut weight so he could be faster. Plus people talking about his 25 bmi, when hes never been in the same weight and that was measured once years ago. Hes tested around the clock even when a fight isnt signed yet, plus he pays extra to get tested more. UKADA is a more consistent agency than usada is by millions of miles, only VADA being close to as consistent. And thats with all UK fighters. How many fighters in UK have tested positive in comparison to USA fighters? Also, you cant use steroids and hope to not get caught aymore in these days, steroids nowadays is practically mpossible to use in boxing and youll get caught no matter what. Only drugs you can use to build muscle or help in size is clenbuterol, zilpaterol, chloerofine and others similar to that. Just look at Salido and Peterson, they were immediately caught, even tho Salido has gotten away with going to fights three weight classes above his opponent and fighting dirty with headutts and nutshots to which the referees turn a blind eye on. Also, nigerians have an easier time building muscle, ive seen multipe nigerians to build natural muscle like theyre transforming to super sayans, footballers of nigerian heritage in football (soccer for americans) tend to have plenty of muscle along with speed, jsut look at Lukaku. Its fair enough to suspect such things in a sport as corrupt in bits as boxing is, however i feel most of you here dont know much of it like that. Not shaming, but just saying. Once again, its fair to be suspicious of this, but this aint the 90s where steroids are used in boxing like that. If anything, theyll test positive for some other drugs, but i wont stay here telling you that it might be possible ukada is on payroll, but in my opinion, they are not. Thank You
