These are two guys who I used to dislike intensely. And know I can't figure out why. Sugar Ray is smart enough to find way to operate and get some good work done, but Froch was miles ahead of someone like Donny Lalonde. I have to pick Froch.
leonard is a bit small, struggling with a world class Lalonde at SMW, albiet post prime. Froch is a step above Lalonde for sure. close! leonard might nip it, but favour froch by massive ordeal n front of a very large crowd at wembley. Yes, one thing is for sure, if Froch won we wouldnt stop hearing about it.
Froch had a great chin and stamina, he was way, way better than Lalonde (who was no slouch). Ray would not KO Froch and would be real lucky to win on points against him as he would have to survive 12 rounds of power. Froch by stoppage.
Froch would get beaten up and pretty bad. Jermain Taylor isnt anywhere near Leonard in terms of skill and he was beating Froch . Lalonde not as skilled as Froch but Lalonde had that righthand that had alot of power . Froch problem is going to be he isnt hard to hit and he isnt gping to outbox Leonard.
This is a case of which fighter comes out at his hypothetical best. Leonard wins if he comes out in a prime hypothetical un weight drained middleweight form. Froch wins if he isnt delusional and forgoes his usual ridiculous impression of head movement. If both fighters come out ready, then well... I pick Leonard by close UD
Froch beat's Leonard . Froch knocks down Ray in rounds 9 and 12 to score a unanimous dec. Leonard has very few moment s of success ,in the fifth round he stuns Carl briefly with a combination but Froch roars back to put him under pressure . The twelve round kd has Leonard down for 8 and serious trouble ,most ringside believe if the fight had being scheduled for 15 ,then Leonard would have been stopped in the next .
This is the most likely outcome. Froch is way bigger physically than Leonard, but Leonard is so much better at boxing. Even the older slower Leonard that fought at 168 would beat Froch. Froch is too easy to outbox and if he doesn't get a come from behind knockout he loses to anyone with skill. I don't see him knocking out Ray Leonard.
Lalonde was a light heavyweight though, not a super middleweight. He was made to come down to SMW by Leonard yet somehow his Light heavyweight title was still on the line.
