Nathan Gorman also ''only had 12 amateur fights'' but you don't see him and Hatton mentioning it in every interview.
Gorman has also already faced a higher ranked and stronger level of opponent than Yarde has. Yarde pulls out of this fight- it’s clearly all about the PR and brand image
Yarde would squash Burton like a bug. Then again, all those Matchroom light heavies won't even fight each other so I wouldn't expect them to fight over on BT anytime soon.
No idea why you think Yarde would beat Burton or ‘squash him like a bug’. He’s fought more meaningful opposition and should have really won all his fights. He switched off against Buglioni, but was winning that fight. I think it would be an interesting fight, and I think Burton wins.
Burton would be a good fight to gage where he actually is at and if it’s a easy fight for him why not take it beat him style and prove many doubters wrong it would do him 0 harm to fight burton and get more respect and if he wins comfortably he can call out the other guys at weight Needs to get rid of this tunde boy he is doing him no favours
This is what I know about Yarde at present...has speed, power and timing and is adept at dismantling fighters ranked around the 30+ mark with poor KO ratio’s, over several rounds. I’d like to see him in against a Blackledge, Conroy, Burton etc so we can see where he’s really at.
His recent record is points decisions against people with losing records. He doesn't have the power to stay in there with Yarde. If Buglioni can KO him then Yarde will.
Mate, i’d have backed Buglioni to beat Yarde at present cos I don’t know anything about Yarde. It’s complete guesswork with him so until he beats someone of note I struggle to back him. What makes you think he could work himself into range against Burton to even land on him? Burton can box, he was a decent amateur, won a ABA etc. It’s complete hype at the minute with Yarde. I’m baffled by the people who disregard someone with an amateur pedigree like Burton but back a fella with hardly any experience who’s had it all his own way with feather fisted, sometimes smaller opponents.
I remember seeing Burton being walked down and having his nose busted by a complete bum on a NXGEN last year. Yarde would annihilate him, as would Buatsi.
I appreciate that, but I always found Burton to be a blown up middleweight. Sure, he can box - but he looks susceptible to power imo. I agree Yarde needs to start fighting names though.
He’s a tall lad for a light heavy. I wondered if he needed a bit more timber on him. You’re right, he is susceptible to power.
