Alright, both of these dingleberries have been released from their respective 24-hour holding cells. (I'd left the bans marked per the default setting as "permanent" when issuing them, just to give them an extra little bit of falsely righteous indignation juice in which to stew, because I'm kind of a dick like that sometimes :sisi1)

Let's see if they can help themselves, or if they have to keep running into that proverbial airplane propeller Chris was talking about. I'm very curious to see how passionately they believe in (being on the wrong side of) this issue.

Any chance of a summary guys? I think it’s about time we had some clarity on the subject, I mean isn’t it just down to the judges on the night?

So how many points does a boxer get if he knocks out the golden snitch? 150 right? Or does that change if he's knocked down in that round?

    This is so stupid.

    1. You know you have to start 10 points.
    2. You know a knockdown causes you to lose a point. If this were not the case then you would not lose a point when a knockdown occurs.
    3. You know a judge can not decide what is and is not a knockdown. That is the referee's job.
    4. You know it is impossible to gain a point.

Why can't any of you apply these 4 points. You have watched this for years. Not a single one of you realized you lose a point for a knockdown? You all just that thought it was a coincidence whenever a judge took a point when a person got knocked down?

"If Fighter A wins the round by a slight margin he will be awarded 10 points and Fighter B nine points. If Fighter A scores a knockdown in addition to winning the round, the score will be 10-8, as he is given a one point credit for the knockdown. One important point to note is that scoring a knockdown does not automatically mean that the fighter wins the round. A fighter can, in fact, dominate a round, even though he suffered a knockdown, and that is one of the situations where one could have a 9-9 round. In that situation, Fighter A won the round 10-9 but suffered a knockdown, which is an automatic point loss, so the score would be 9-9."

But I'm sure this article, the other articles I posted, LOGIC, history, etc just don't matter because reasons. You just heard the word "must" and disregarded everything else despite it making no sense.

Judges do not have as much autonomy as you people seem to think they do. Once the ref decides something is a knockdown they have to go by that decision. There is no "I thought it was a slip so I didn't count it.", "I had to ignore it to get to 10" etc. Now if you DO happen to do these things are judge no one is likely going to care but that doesn't mean that you did the right thing.

There may be some guidelines for judging fights, but there are no written rules. There is, however, an unwritten rule about a fighter scoring a knockdown earning a 10-8 round. Despite Colon landing 24 punches in the second to Farmer's 3, two of the three judges scored the second 10-8, Farmer.

The third judge scored it a more acceptable 10-9, giving Farmer the round even after being outboxed for 2:55 of it. That made the final cards 38-37, 39-37 and 38-37 — a one-sided bout looked close. What the judges should have done was what ESPN2 analyst Teddy Atlas did — score the second 9-9, giving Farmer credit for the knockdown, but giving Colon credit for dominating the rest.

The only reason I seem to care so much is because at this rate none of you are going to understand how this is supposed to work because you won't listen nor will you apply logic.

you can though if a fighter gets knocked down, so hes now 9-10 then goes on to win the round the ref has no choice than to add the point back on, because otherwise th round would be a draw, and the fighter who was knocked down clearly won.

Correct, you can't. Having a round where both fighters are knocked down scored (correctly) 10-9 for either fighter has nothing to do with "adding" points, though.

Read what I just posted and explain this. Don't just say "You're wrong" don't ban me because you don't have argument for against it. Actually try to explain this like an adult.

I have, many times already. You and @the factor continue to just plug your thumbs in your ears and go "NANANANANA, we're not listening!"

Fine. Once and for all I'm going to show you where you and @the factor went off the rails in this whole "debate", starting with his first response to me in this very thread:

Okay, so here is your initial misstep. This is a fatal misunderstanding of the whole situation on both your parts. Stay with me, okay?

tf asked "what is the difference between a point deducted for a foul and one deducted for a KD?" - and the answer is "there is a difference. They are treated differently. Points mandated to be deducted by a referee due to a violation of the rules are just that - MANDATED. They supersede the whole "10 point must" aspect of the system by that name, in scoring boxing. Knockdowns result in the dropped fighter losing a point UNLESS that would result in there not being a fighter with 10 points in the round.

    So here, look:

Fighter A beats up Fighter B for most of a round. Both are warned for low blows, and both have points taken. So a 10-9 round for Fighter A becomes 9-8 for Fighter A. Simple math, right? Deduct a point from each guy.

Now, suppose Fighter A beats up Fighter B for most of the next round - but in the final ten seconds they swap knockdowns. Both men kiss the canvas. This would be 10-9 for Fighter A. The knockdowns in this case do not result in either fighter losing a point, because unlike point deductions for a foul, knockdowns do not carry that mandate to supersede it being "ten point must" (for either the winner of a round, or both fighters in the case of an even round).

There, do you see how there's no "adding" of points involved, now?

You CAN'T though. There is no gaining points in boxing. That is not how that works. That is against how you are taught to score fights.
