Salido was a true world champion not a journeyman or contender.

Salido hands down. You forgot his fights with Yuriorkis Gamboa and the biggest one of all JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ!!!!!!!
Hell you can throw in Cesar Soto who fought and beat Jose Luis Castillo (Floyd Mayweather killer) , Agapito Sanchez (Manny Pacquiao killer), Naseem Hamed, Johnny Tapia....

You can do a entire thread on Degrees of Separation with Orlando Salido's resume and It'll probably end at Heavyweight somehow.

I've always liked LeMule. A level or so below world class but more than just a gate keeper. Carries some pretty serious firepower too

All very good fighters sporting a couple of losses. Salido's list is even longer as mentioned and is the standout here. Though it's not a very good kept secret that his record should come with a couple of asterisk's, which also makes his transition from journeyman to champion suspect to say the least.
We recently had a cyclecrosser going from back of the pack to dominance within a single season... until she got caught.

this is wrong, some of these guys werre actual titlists. Titlists are titlists no matter what they become later in life, even if they are flash-in-the-pan.

I don't like calling former champs "gatekeepers" but Salido is clearly heads and tails above everyone else IMO.

Yeah I know, find me a better name to sum up someone with a ton of losses that's seen as a gatekeeper by many. That's still happens to have been a champ that'll fit into a thread title, maybe I'll use it. Regardless, you get the point of the thread. Its not that hard.

Ouma had lost three of his last four going into the Rosado fight. Not sure how that's even mentioned as a top win for anyone.
