I know this must be hard to believe but there was a time before smart phones and YouTube. We called this primordial epoch the 1990's. One needed to actually speak with managers and sparring partners and trainers to learn.

And yea, it was commonly known and even printed that Terry put up 300 during training for Mugabi.

Was it the same people who wrote Jeffries lifted a whole bull and ran nine miles with it? There is plenty of training footage of athletes from the 1990s, your telling me such awesome feats of strength didn’t make the cut.

Evander would easily bench over 300 and Vlad most likely could bench 400. Theres vids on youtube of Dillion Whyte benching 200kgs.

its the highest paying sport in the world no?Only the best play in it.If some amatuer 74 kg powerlifter from japan can bench 230 kgs then i believe a 70 kg pro boxer can put up 140 kgs.

I saw on Whyte's instagram him benching 180 kg for a rep or two, but bouncing the bar of his chest and his spotter helping him, so his competition bench would probably be around 150-160 kg

I saw Mark De Mori squating 180 kg atg 5 reps with no problem.
His best bench is around 170-175 kg I think.
He is jacked, and one of the strongest boxers I believe.
    Not a great boxer though

I agree that Norris benching 300 was quite possibly an exaggeration but benching 300 really isn't as impressive or rare as you seem to think. Years ago, I benched 330 while weighing 170.

I work at a gym and 300 pounds and up was a rare sight, and this at college with plenty of strong guys running around. So forgive my skepticism but a 300 strict bench, especially at the lighter weights is pretty impressive.

    Correction, Norris benched 360.

A 60 year old guy at my old gym put up over 520 pounds in competition.

Again, 300 is good and something to be proud of but hardly rare among elite athletes. Hell, look at the NFL combine. You have sub-200 lb DB's putting up 225 over 20 times.

What's the best source for Norris benching 360? I posted an article a few weeks ago where one of his trainers brags about Terry being able to bench 250:

From some guy who used to work out at his gym... so take it as you wish. The 300 pound mark came up often during his hey day.

Ha. I had several friends back then (all college athletes) who could actually bench twice their body weight. I was trying to join them but ended up hurting myself (the first of several lifting related injuries)

I also put up 315 a bit more recently (almost a decade ago though). And I have proof of that one.

Did you bench paused, tng or those wild bouncy ego bench presses?
Nevertheless, you were pretty strong for your weight.
What program did you follow for your bench?
