U dont ask for much do you Russell??!!! (kiddin) I'll just pick Charles because he was imo the best ever of a larger weight category than the one in which i believe Greb was the best of, i know they both fought successfuly in each other's class, but this is just to make it easier for me to make a pick!!!!
If charles can go 15 with a killer pressure fighter, strong chinned and dynamite puncher like marciano then i like his chances v a swarmer like harold....
Very hard to say. Would expect Ezzard to get the most nods because he was the bigger man in a similar premier league like Greb's, but you know Greb would cause all kinds of hiccups, even in such a strong era, had he been present.
Greb was a great, great fighter but so was Ezzard and a naturally bigger man and bigger puncher...I see Ezz winning but nothing was easy with Greb
Likewise. I would predict this to be a great, great fight. Charles could be expected to be the "better" work...but how would the master boxer adapt to being inundated with punches? I do not see Charles-Marciano as a good comparison for Charles-Greb. Greb may lack the lethal power of Marciano, but what he certainly will bring is volume. Even if it's agreed upon that Charles will last the distance, this match could very well come down to judging - quantity or quality?
I just had a vision. Charles hit him on the way in with a powerful right hand that buckled Greb's legs and sent him stumbling backwards. Who knows what happened next.
I think this would be a very close decision, probably the determining factor would be how the judges scored the fight, with Greb landing more on a Charles who struggled to find his rythym but still managed to land the more hurtful, eye-catching combinations.
