educate me on jack Jeffries, was he any good? Did he possess any of his brothers prowess in the ring? I only just found out about him and know nothing about him

Definitely a BitVesti question, not many of his fights are documented. The least i can say is that he didn't have nearly the success of his brother (the precursor to Michael and Leon Spinks, methinks). Most notable fight of his career was his loss at the hands of Jack Johnson via 5th round KO in 1902 (Johnson was relatively green at the time)

Can't find much on him searching through news reports

I don't really know anything about him, other than he fought Jack Johnson

According to CBZ he was pretty talented but his heart wasn't in it

I could probably dig up some stuff if I'm in the mood later.

He s#cked. He was Jim's sparring/training partner but was otherwise very unaccomplished. Pollack talks about him a bit in his Jeffries book.

No, he was sparring partner material.

He was a decent fighter, but never more than a local level talent.

I understand that there were hopes that he could take it up to the next level, but it was obviously never going to happen.

Jim Jeffries was ringside when Johnson ko'd his brother, he said to his companion," that was an awful thump!" Johnson walked over to where Jeffries was seated and, over the ropes shouted to him," I can do this to you too!"

    But you already know this.
