After the Ortiz and Wider fights I don't think Scott belongs in a boxing ring. I think he threw the Wilder fight and against Ortiz he was truly embarrassing.

 

Apparently he 'exposed' Ortiz in that fight.....

 

I only hope Hughie has gone away and changed his style. Months ago, Peter openly expressed a disgust with Hughie's whole style, the style he trained him with. I hope Hughie has found another trainer to undo all of Peter's training so that Peter will be more pleased with Hughie's fighting style.

 

It's difficult to see where Hughie goes next. He was awfull last time out against pulev and judging by that performance I dont see how he beats any of the top 10.

If they give him another top contender and he loses again it really starts to affect his career.

 

It's an odd situation. He seems to have put himself into a position where fights against the likes of Dubois, Joyce and so on just aren't considered, but likewise, nobody gives him a chance against Joshua or Wilder.

 

Don't forget Chisora.

 

It's hard to see where Hughie's career is going just now. I don't think he'll ever make it to the top or be in the mix for titles and he's not the type of fighter that you want to tune in to watch because he's in exciting fights. He's still young enough that he can change things, but right now I think Hughie is pretty irrelevant in the division.

 

It's been a truly odd career so far. I'm not saying a bad one, more a surreal one. It feels like Hughie has been around forever but, as you say, his name never gets mentioned in either top tier fights or for the money-tree fights that a real promoter would insist on. Instead he might as well be based in Bulgaria or Russia or something.

Yeah, feels like he's been around ages and people still talk about how young he is but he's been a pro six years and debuted earlier than Joshua. Then very odd fights (any idea why his fourth fight appears to have been the only one on the card against a Hungarian former light heavy in Romania?) and just strange career trajectory; Fred Kassi - seventeen months out - straight into a world title fight.

 

If I hear the phrase "Hughie is only 24" I will scream.
Yes and next year he will be 25, the year after that 26, and 5 years from now he will be 29 and he will still be **** to watch.

And just a reminder, boxing is a spectator sport. So if you keep on stinking out the ring by running away and trying to pick pocket a UD- the interest in you ends.

I have reached the end with Hughie after Parker and Pulev. I want to see him viciously knocked out at some point, but until that happens my interest in him is zero

 

It appears he's back again on a Mick Henessy card on 25th May, no opponent announced yet. He's still young for a heavyweight so wouldn't write him off yet.

 

I had Hughie beating Parker by two points. That would've made him heavyweight world champion.

He was awful against Pulev. Really, really bad.

Who knows where he goes or ends up. Needs to be active and I don't believe in Peter's old school training. Although I do respect big Peter.

 

The acne has hampered him, his skin breaks so easily, his eyes seem to get cuts above them whenever he is hit.
