And Sonny never fought a fighter as awkward, as game, as durable, who hit him as hard on the jaw as Rocky Marciano would have. It works both ways.

Not really fair to Marciano although that’s one of my favorite stories. Had been retired for some time and was desperately out of shape. Only started exercising again for the Ali filmed fight. Which he went down from 260 to 212 if I recall reading. He would of gotten hurt most likely sparring. That being said prime for prime would have been an excellent fight. Could see them trading haymakers in the middle of the ring as both their game plans went out the window.

Did I just accidentally unite all of the classic forum rockistas on one thread against Seamus?

Clay is so light hitting he had stopped 15 o 19 opponents. When did Marciano ever face a 210 pound prime specimen like Clay/Ali? When did he face a fighter half as good? I don't suppose Marciano would do so well against that guy either. Prime or old (which Sonny was).

    Please.

2nd fight was a work..I'm 50/50 on the first. Just my opinion not looking to open a can of worms here.

Prime for prime Liston had a 30 pound weight advantage and 18" (!) reach advantage. I know, facts can be a bit nasty for dreamers.

I thought nobody here actually believed that Liston had an 84" reach, its a myth similar to his hand size, which was 14" not 16"

Marciano's more explosive footwork and infighting would make that into a disadvantage honestly

That combined with Marciano's superior chin and endurance.....................

How many times do you think you have typed this exact same thing on here?
    50?
    100?

    Change the bloody record.

It goes differently if Rocky is a young man, but Liston would probably drop him if he took the fight at all seriously at this time.
