I) Prime Tommy hearns with Marvin Haglers chin II) Prime 168 roy jones junior with mike tysons killer instinct and finishing ability Both would be awesome, but which combination do you think would make for the better/more dangerous fighter?
Hearns with Haglers chin primarily bcoz of the Hitmans murderous intent look. I wouldnt dare to step in the ring against such fighter.
First one, I guess. I didn't see too much of a problem with finishing ability with RJJ at 168, unless you count him being nice and asking Lipton to stop the Brannon fight when Brannon was done.
Thats true, but even a prime roy jones never really "went for blood" so to speak, in fact the only time I've ever really seen him throw punches with truly bad intentions was the second griffen fight. Can you imagine a prime roy jones throwing punches with intent to seriously hurt and the mindset of wanting to get his opponent out of the ring as quickly as possible? Scary IMO I'm not saying he wasn't a good finisher, but for lack of better description he always seemed to lack that ruthless aggressive streak of say a prime tyson
#1 is extremely deadly. One of the "perfect fighters" IMO would be Hearns' body + Hagler's chin + Marciano-ish stamina. I don't really think #2 would be all that fearsome. A "better" combination, not necessarily more frightening, would be RJJ + Hagler's chin.
I actually believe #2 would make Jones a worse fighter. Jones defenses were based on his reflexes. At a certain point, being overly aggressive would allow you to be hit more. Jones combination of superb offense and defense is what made him so hard to beat. Amping up his offense anymore may not be advisable. One is a change in a fighters attributes, the other is a change in style. Changing a fighters style without changing attributes could be bad.
Thomas Hearns with Haglers chin would've been the greatest fighter of all time. He would've stopped Hagler on cuts, and would've never lost to Leonard or Barkley.
I think Hagler with RJJrs athletic ability would be even more dangerous than Hagler/Hearns combo, but theres no doubt in my mind that option #1 is the choice
