Who is the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world? Fight Breakdown debate... During this vid the question is asked which British fighter can get into the top 10 P4P rankings, who do fans feel out of the Brits can make it and how? This content is protected
Side note: Also during this vid it is suggested Floyd may still be the best P4P if he comes back v Crawford! WTF?
There is one in the top 10. It's just that they are overlooked by everyone despite beating Wlad, Povetkin, Parker, Whyte, Breazeale and Takam. His name is Anthony Joshua I heard. But if we ignore him, the closest for me is Callum Smith. He needs one more big win to put him solidly into the P4P top 10, he's definitely in everyone's top 15 right now for sure.
AJ wasn`t on the list, but is mentioned on the vid, I don`t think AJ has proved he is as good as anyone on the list except Garcia, AJ is easier to hit than anyone else on the list.
Yeah, I agree with Callum Smith, especially if he was to unify against Ramirez and then one of the muted match ups with Canelo and GGG which are both definately winnable, then he would be a dead cert for the top 10. Joshua's hovering around the top 10 but, with the Miller fight in jeopardy and the likelihood of a replacement being a lesser opponent, he would need to beat Wilder, Fury, Whyte or Usyk later in this year to secure a top 10 place. If we were to get a huge upset later on in the year such as Campbell beating Loma (highly unlikely) or BJS getting and winning the Canelo fight (again, very doubtful), the only other fighter I see with a chance is Warrington but, he'll likely need to beat the likes of LSC, Russel Jnr. or Valdez to secure a top 10 ranking.
Both Spence and Mikey need to go from that list as far as I'm concerned. Neither of them have fought anybody. It's not just about what you see. It's about who you see them against as well. I value that highly personally, so that's why I have AJ in my top 10 all day long. Mikey has lots of world titles, and that should be given some weight. But at the same time...he should have won a few rounds against Spence at least even if the physical stats were stacked against him. He was exposed in that fight for being bang average. And Spence...I'm still not convinced yet. And even if you think he should be in there, surely not top 5! Ahead of GGG? Crazy. All he's done is beat a one-eyed Kell Brook, who was outboxing him up until the eye injury. And secondly, what about the performance against Povetkin? AJ showed huge improvement in that fight, and Povetkin struggled to land other than in the first round or whenever it was. He kept Povetkin at bay, and Povetkin was a very good amateur and a decent pro. I agree with you up to a point, and that point was the Povetkin fight. He's a different beast now. I think with the insane resume he's now got, he at least deserves to be in the lower end of the top 10. We saw a Joshua able to adapt to the situation, he got better as the fight went on against a really clever Povetkin. I think that shows that Joshua is a much more intelligent, tactical fighter now than he was before.
I think the Tartan Tomato will be up there soon, maybe Joshi if he gets the Wilder fight and beats him up.
Anthony Joshua should already be in the top 10 if the list is unbiased. Tyson Fury, Callum Smith, Josh Warrington, Josh Taylor, Billy Joe Saunders are all on the verge of breaking the top 10, they are all from 11th to 20th. Britain have a very strong top 6 fighters there.
Oh yeah, forgot all about Warrington. Surely he should be top 10 now too, clear wins against Selby and Frampton should be enough. Mikey and Spence have to go, and in my opinion replaced with AJ and Warrington.
Josh Taylor is already top 2-4 in terms of skills to pay the bills, all he has to do is wait for his resume to catch up to his skills and prove that his whiskers are up to the task. AJ is the #1 HW on the planet but isn't ranked in the top 10 but somehow even the pre Mikey Spence was. Fury is the slickest most skilful HW on the planet bar none and has wins over a legend in Wlad and should have one over Donkey but was robbed blind in USA. You know how they do. Britain owns the HW division and all four of those belts should by rights be on British soil right now and that's a FACT, btw. If Khan can somehow manage to roll back the years and the layers of shotness and pull off what would be a gargantuan upset over P4P top 5 ranked Crawford over on his manor where everything is stacked against him and he's already been stitched up before it would be absolutely epic. But sadly he's shot to bits now and hasn't fought a world class opponent in 3 years, not beaten one in 4 years, and struggled mightily, dropped and nearly got knocked out by a journeyman in his last fight who only sports a meagre KO 38%. BJS 2.0 is top 3 slickest fighters on the planet and will lick everyone's ass at 168 sans Benavidez and even then his slickness might be too much for the beastly Benavidez - that's how slick BJS 2.0 is. Warrington's wins over Frampton and Selby were very impressive and he might be knocking on the door very soon. Callum Smith might also be knocking on that door if he can rack up a few more quality wins. Speaking of Callums. Callum Johnson is the best hooker in the game bar none and he can KO anyone with those savage hooks of his. And then we have the likes of Scott Quigg who would already be up there if not for terrible luck with injuries. The very talented highly decorated amateur Luke Campbell who is going to be an even bigger force now that he's hooked up with the best young trainer in the game. And beastly prospects like Buatsi and JJJ who are going to be serious forces at LHW and HW respectively and future world champions for sure FACT. And if Donkey can somehow manage to summon the courage to stop ducking Dillian Whyte Britain will have another world champion. And don't forget Liam Williams 2.0 who is much improved since hooking up with Domingle and would beat the brakes off all the champs at 154. And if Yarde beats Kovalev who is still very dangerous but way past his best and vulnerable, then he'll shoot up the 175 rankings and bring back another world title to Britain aka their rightful home.
Josh Taylor and Callum Smith. Once AJ blasts Wilder in to the next lifetime he will be right up there too.
IF Saunders get his ass in gear he could but its a big if Warrington cant be too far away if he gets past Barry Smith will be there or there abouts. I wonder how hard they will push for GGG fight if he gets past Ross
Rougarou is This content is protected That he's #1 at 140 (see what I did there?) But is really? Should Britain have the #1 ranked fighter in yet another division? Indongo Flanagan Joel Diaz Jr. Velasco Taylor Postol Miguel Vasquez Ryan Martin Davies Hmmm.. I'm not so sure @CST80 what do you think?
