I would have to say 2010's Jim Lampley. Just biased and bitter as anyone could be, no surprise HBO boxing ended with him leading the way.

This might be it for me also. He was more generic than a boxing lover. He is good, but you could have the Iditarod races and he did the same thing. I know about the Iditarod racies from waiting for that race to show, so I could watching boxing after. I always felt bad for the dogs. Maybe they enjoy it. I don't know.

This side of the pond, John Rawling and Steve Holdsworth are the worst, for me. Rawling especially. Adam Smith is unbearable, too. To be honest the level of commentary and punditry here in the UK is generally abysmal.

Fred Verlander, didn't think much of Harry Carpenter either.I don't like commentators who comment on every punch as some of the US ones do.We can see for ourselves ,it isn't radio! We just want an overall impression.

I know it is sacrilege, but Harry Carpenter. Nice man, terrible commentator.

Edit: I misread the heading, my answer below is my Most Favorite commentator:

Big George Foreman. He was a touch of class and brought true experience to the table...
Such a refreshing contrast to the pig-headed know it all's like Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley he worked along side.

I actually favor ex fighters one thousand percent over talking heads like Lampley, Kellerman, Merchant etc... Those type of commentators seem to think we tune in for THEM and not the fight itself.

A lot of people dogged Foreman as a commentator, but I always thought he brought a unique, level headed perspective to the broadcast, and I certainly value his opinion over the empty suits that HBO would trot out

As much as I hate his horrible commentary in the B-Hop vs Tito fight, he more than makes up for it when a riot breaks out. "Don't do it son" is probably the best advice in recorded human history.

I didn't hate him in the B-Hop fight...he was obviously putting stock in the wrong fighter, but at least he conceded by the end of the fight and made the statement that Hopkins 'made me eat my words tonight' or something similar.
......As long as you can admit when you're wrong

This sounds blasphemous I know, but Don Dunphy. He's just terrible. Nasally, halting delivery, always seems taken aback at everything happening in front of him, and has an annoying desire to anglicize everything (see "Bobby" Duran). Never saw what anyone sees in him.
