Both were "small" middleweights, and won many fights by
    attrition. Who wins????

    (21 ko victories)
    height 5′ 7½″
    reach 69″

    Carmen Basilio

    (27 ko victories)

The local Red Cross would need to hold a blood donation drive for this one.

Neither was a big middleweight. When he came back in the mid-80's, Vito was pared down to a junior-middle.

I see this as an ugly fight that goes to the cards. There will be arguments about who really won, but Carmen gets the nod.

Fun fight between 2 tough guys! I think Basilio was the more skilled of the 2 and he would take a decision or stop Vito on cuts. I hate picking a cuts outcome but I don’t think either guy is getting KO’d here.

I don't know, Vito was a tough SOB and Basilio won't out strength him. This could be the kind of fight where 3 different people have 3 different views of how it goes. A split decision with wide disparities of scoring.

I think Vito is the more skilled guy TBH but Basilio hits harder. 50/50 in my book

Phone booth warfare, both rock-jawed, both a propensity to cut. Basilio the harder hitter, but Vito with deceptively fast hands. Wouldn't be betting the house on this one.

I’m glad you responded. If a guy named ‘scartissue’ doesn’t weigh in on this thread, it’s time to retire.
