Luis Ortiz’s handlers apparently want at the absolute least what DAZN and Eddie Hearn were willing to pay Jarrell Miller for Ortiz to challenge Anthony Joshua on June 1. Ortiz’s representatives turned down Hearn’s $5 million offer for Ortiz to step in on what’s now five weeks’ notice for Miller. They asked for $10 million, $3.5 million more than what would’ve been Miller’s package for the fight had the boisterous Brooklyn contender not tested positive for multiple performance-enhancing drugs late in March.
World champion IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Briton Anthony Joshua (22-0, 21 KOs) and American Mexican Andy Ruiz (32-1, 21 KOs) reached an agreement on the fight to be held on June 1 in New York, United States. The official announcement of the fight Anthony Joshua - Andy Ruiz from the organizer of boxing evening in New York, the promotion company Matchroom Boxing, as well as the streaming platform DAZN is expected tomorrow.
“I think Anthony Joshua (is next),” Ruiz (32-1, 21KOs) stated to Fox Sports’ Kate Abdo during a recent interview on FS1’s Inside PBC Boxing. “We’re in negotiations right now and hopefully they pick me. I have had a phone call (with Hearn). They’re talking to my team, but I don’t want to get ahead of myself.” “My goal is to be at 245, get some muscle, improve my speed,” insists Ruiz. “If I’m at 245, I don’t think there’s anyone who can match me.”
245 is not good for Ruiz, still it's too much to carry into fight. He will be brutalized against Joshua if he even faces him. Can't understand these overweight heavies, they have talent but yet they waste it with being overweight.
HALL OF FAME promoter Frank Warren is delighted to welcome unbeaten heavyweight and Olympic Silver medallist Joe Joyce to the Queensberry Promotions stable in a co-promotional agreement with Ringstar Sports. The 33-year-old, known as 'Juggernaut' is the mandatory challenger for the EBU European heavyweight title, the British heavyweight title and the current holder of the WBA Gold heavyweight title, having previously won the WBA Continental title. Joyce’s Queensberry Promotions debut will come as chief support to Billy Joe Saunders’ clash with Shefat Isufi on May 18th at the Lamex Stadium, home of Stevenage FC.
So, Joyce/Dubois is next. Never thought that this fight will happen. Great fight for both. Battle of chins and power.
