Marciano was not the good at cutting off the ring. Walcott was stumbling in post holes and Marciano merely following him like a puppy dog. Again, another aspect in which Marciano is totally overrated.

How on earth do you think that midget with his midget arms connected with his opponents if he couldn’t cut offf the ring lol. Sometimes your comments seem like you’ve never actually watched the Walcott fight or any Marciano figbt for that matter? He was losing on the score cards but the rounds were extremely competitive. Walcott had exceptional footwork. Marciano cut off the ring exceptionally well and was willing to take a few punches if need be to do so. Also Byrd didn’t have Walcott’s style he wouldn’t be as fancy with his foot work.

How hard is it to cut off the ring on a tired, old guy in the 70th fight of a very damaging career? His pins were totally gone and he was postholing backwards around the ring. Marciano was mostly following in a straight line. Had he cut off the ring better Walcott would have been out of there 4 rounds earlier.

Whatever... Marciano = ATG power, ATG defense, ATG ringwork, ATG speed, ATG size, ATG ATG... He did everything better than everyone else ever.

Byrd runs out of air, He goes to the ground in round 11, and cant catch an updraft. The " Rock" TKO.

So now Walcott wasn’t the HW champion but just an “old guy”...he was the champ despite his age. You must think extremely lowly of AJ beating up on old men in their 40s. Makes Marciano’s opponents looks like young men.

It's pointless to argue with Seamus about Marciano, you might as well scream at a wall

For every intelligent argument you have, he'll come back at you with "lol Marciano was small"

AJ doesn't overly impress me, to be honest.

Marciano will go down in objective history as an opportunist. He took what there was from who happened to possess it. Fortune favored him on the latter factor.

And Byrd's claim to fame is what ?
Outpointing a decrepit, war-torn 40 year old Holyfield and a plodding Tua ?
Disputable win against Oquendo and a disputable draw with a 36 year old Golota, who was 5 years or more past being a credible contender ?
Vitali's quit job through injury ?

Byrd was a joke of a "world champion".

He was also a glutton. And a bum.
The bag wasn't 300lb. It was 260 at best.

Man, I love the Rock, but I actually love Byrd too. With his wins of Holy, Vitali and Tua, I consider Byrd to be an underappreciated great.

Actually a great fight, and I will be honest, I could see either man winning.

Uh if he was so great at cutting off the ring it wouldn't have taken him 13 rounds to catch up to and finish a near 40 year old Walcott. Unless you think Walcott had the most amazing footwork ever? Can't really have it both ways.

Walcott had amazing foot work. And what does it taking 13 rounds have to do with anything? Did the job and knocked out almost all the men he faced within four rounds. How good does one have to be? The standards on this forum are remarkably impossible.
