Yes he was likely blinded by loyalty. While he likely felt signs of it after the first Jacobs and Canelo fight, it wasn't until the second fight where he got a wake up call.

ok, then, so we are defending ggg from his own stupidity now. and his brother is also a stump for going along with it. maybe the parents were related?

His style was working until the limitations were made obvious by higher level opposition. Sometimes it takes a wake up call such as getting sent to jail before you realize changes need to made.

His clearly not a bad trainer. GGG isn't stupid and if Sanchez was a poor trainer he would have left him years ago.

Fighters and trainers split all the time. Not the first time and won't be the last.

And what exactly made GGG 'great'? Knocking out chumps, bums, cab drivers, shop keepers and a bunch of other jokers? Both are equally on the same level as each other as far as boxer-trainer levels go and they complement each other perfectly.

Simply put, GGG just isn't quite 'GREAT' enough to make Abel Sanchez look great.

Not sure how much trainers do. You can see Manny Stewart's teachings on his fighters but I'm curious about how many trainers have any visible impact like that. Especially when they haven't trained the fighter since he was a child.

I don’t like Abel, but it just seems uncomfortable to me that whenever an elite fighter loses unexpectedly, we keep blaming the trainer.

Wlad lost to Fury? “****ing Banks! He was always terrible!”
Kovalev lost to Ward? “****ing Jackson! He was always a snake!”
Golovkin lost to Canelo? “****ing Abel! He was always a nobody!”

Loma or Usyk is going to lose eventually and I’m wondering if Anatoly is going to get a pass. I guess he will considering he’s Loma’s father.

Still, **** Abel though. I still don’t like him.

anyone actually curious about who the boxing fans and who the fangirls are, just take a look at those who shat on those trainers and fighters you mentioned. i will bet money the same names will pop up doing the same weak crap. people cant escape their nature, its their survival technique.

i think roach and pac are a good example of a trainer not changing but refining a fighter
