Nope doesn’t make sense at all and I honestly believed the story of the promoter screwing up by demanding $10 million is bs.. That’s a story his team fabricated to cover up the fact that Luis Ortiz was not gonna pass the VADA test.. Ortiz is not profitable at all and there is no way a small promoter turns down a percentage of 7 million for a fighter that nets them no money..
It might make sense if the Ortiz v Wilder fight IS next. If Ortiz beats Wilder then the Joshua fight will be for mega money. I personally don't see him beating Wilder. If the fight isn't next then when does Ortiz get his opportunity and what will he realistically be able to do at his age 18 months down the line. The smart move for me would have been to take the Joshua fight and maybe retire. Although I think if he did lose to Joshua he could have gone back to beating the same level of opponents he's currently facing.
Scrabbling around for alternative explanations requires too many assumptions or ifs and buts. If he can get 3m if he can win, if he can win a rematch etc... This is a guy who is at least 39 and possibly older. He doesn't speak English, has little following outside hard core boxing fans, doesn't draw big crowds or have endorsement deals. The call from Hearn is the HW boxers equivalent of Christmas Day. It would've been guaranteed money, no assumptions required and the security of an additional fight. You need a better explanation like: Makes far more sense. And/Or a prior commitment that they can't get out of.
AL HAYMON. Fighting Joshua helps AJ and Hearn and DAZN get out of a bit of a hole. It was the best option, better than Miller to be fair. Losing to Joshua renders Ortiz useless in Haymons plans for tying up Wilder to Showtime PPV fights cuz at the moment they still push him as the Boogeyman and only brave courageous Wilder has beaten him. If Joshua smashes him up easy then alot of the energy of the Wilder Ortiz fight is lost. Im sure Ortiz wanted this fight and he would of took 5, 6, 6.5 or 7. But they shafted him, they trying to tell us it was just a big mess up but you dont mess up stuff like this, certainly not as bad as that. I knew Ortiz and his trainers were being kept out of the loop and now we know why, they would of took it. This goes all the way up to Haymon, this was a PBC business decision made in the companies best interest and not the fighters best interest. Im afraid these Boxers who are putting their lives on the line are not clients of an "advisor" they are his EMPLOYEES.
Only reason was he was on something. who turns down 7 mil to fight for a hw title no matter what shape you are in or how much you think you cant win oh wait, wilder turned down 100 mil so i guess anything is possible in boxing these days, its become a bit of a joke take the fight you fat cuban grandad
