@Jurgen another strap on the line, to think you could pay 5 times as much to see Pudding Whyte against Midget Rivas with 0 straps on the line

The co-main events at the Hydro May 18th are top drawer - no complaints - but it'd be good to hear some of the undercard - nothing else listed on Boxrec at the mo.

WBSS undercards are largely absolute gash.

Which is fine given the main and co-main tend to be so good

This is true - just thought they might go a half decent 3rd on the bill in case The Monster blows away Rodriguez early - hopefully not.

Nah, no chance. Won't be a total blowout IMO but they usually have the round reserve in a reasonably comfortable match anyway in case there's a pull out last mine a la Tete last week

Hopefully with this card being on Sky now it will make some of the mugs wake up and wonder why they are paying PPV for garbage non title fights when they get two world title fights between the top guys in the division (including a pound for pound fighter) on normal sky.

Im not overly fussed about filling the card with shite to be honest. Maybe a decent local scrap or 2 but with 2 main events like that who really cares? I wish most cards over here would have less fights so we can get bigger fights regularly.

I thought matchroom might have gone down that route with the NXTGEN, put your knock over fights on there then have cards with fewer but higher quality fights. As it panned out we are pretty much at the point where NXTGEN is PPV standard

It’s a hard path to take because it only really benefits the tv watchers. It’s hard enough getting 6/7/10/15/18k people through the door never mind trying to tell them that it’s for two fights. Imagine it’s two early stoppages and the shows done in half an hour. Travelling fans would be (rightly) aggrieved.

I see your point but I kind of disagree. The big events dont usually fill up until the fight before the main event anyway.

I know yeah but the people don’t see it that way. On paper they’re getting a night of boxing but in reality they only go for the main event! Yet if you take away the rest of the boxing they’d moan.

These 2 fights are card of the year in the UK and any decent undercard action is a bonus.

We only get two big shows up here a year. I'm there from the first bell to the last.
I can never understand some punters paying sixty seventy eighty quid and just coming in to arena for the main event.

I always try and see as many as I can but when they are push over jobs my urgency to get there from the first bell isn't as high.

Even when I'm an hour late I'm usually amongst the first couple of hundred there unless one of the fighters has brought half a town with him.
