There is plenty of footage, not the full fight, but what is show Walcott is the pearl winner. We can also use the majority of the scorecards 2/3 of which say Walcott won, and the live crowd certainly felt he won.

So a large sample of scorecards saying Walcott won it. Check
Crowds reaction to the decision, a loud boo. Check
Louis body language and possible telling Joe was was sorry. Check
Surviving footage showing Walcott was the better. Half a check

Credible reports saying giving Louis anymore than 6 rounds is questionable.

9-6 for Walcott with two knockdowns based on the above seems about right.

There needs to be footage for me to form my opinion, yes. Plenty of people felt Louis won, they saw the fight.

Another poster on here made a great point that the submitted scores ranged from 10-5 Jersey to 9-6 Louis. That's an incredible swing.

It isn't like only one person gave the fight to Louis, the fight is considered a close and controversial affair. I can't give an opinion because I can't score it.

There's only one unseen great I rank at all and that'd be Greb due to the amount of greats I have seen that have lost to him.

    I don't get your point.

So a third of people felt Louis won, why would I disagree with them?

Louis won the rematch by knockout, it doesn't get any more decisive.

    It's a well written article.

But it's a man trying to score a highlight reel.

It's a man trying to make deductions about the first fight based on the second fight.

It's a man reading a lot into the way Jersey interpreted something.

But it is nicely written, thanks for the link.

Joe Louis’s body language to me after the first Walcott fight indicates to me he felt he lost the fight. And i’m a big Louis fan. Looks like Andre Ward before his name was announced against Kovalev in the first fight. However the difference to me is Louis unlike Ward pressed forward and tried to win the fight, and made it close enough that the established champion got the nod.
He did the right thing gave Walcott a rematch and knocked him out. Past prime iced him.

The press and NY was very pro Louis. I bet that was the 1/3 who felt he won, for the most part. Did you not read the Donovan and MSG link I posted a few days back?
