Speed kills. Against Golovkin Canelo could see the punches coming. Tonight he wont. Plus Canelo has to be the shortest linear middle in the history of the sport he is 5 8 even in Oscars heels.
Disagree, Golovkin was tagging Jacobs at will, quickly and efficiently, and according to some armchair experts here, Canelo is even faster than Golovkin. I expect Canelo to Counter KO Jacobs in the 10th round.
Nonsense. Canelo has one of the best chins in the game right now, coupled with such a solid stance and feet. GGG threw some monster punches and it hardly did anything. Whether you like Canelo or not, you have to admire his ability to stay on his feet. I'm thinking that Jacobs will box and move for the majority of this fight. At the weigh in he fired up anger in Canelo with the headbutt. I think he did that because he really wants Canelo to come onto the front foot. That suggests he wants to sit behind the long jab and box him. I don't think Jacobs is looking for the knockout at all, and I think he's playing mind games by saying he can get the KO.
Yeah well Jacobs would obviously be expecting that. Jacobs counters Canelos counter for an easy KO in the 10th.
Anything is possible, but GGG like Canelo is very durable and doesn’t seem to be phased much by individual shots, so Canelo isn’t going to get easily rocked like Quillin, who’s durability was always suspect. Jacobs is going to need to light Canelo up with combos and beat him to the punch and slowly wear him down to have a chance at winning. Floyd and Cotto both showed that beating Canelo to the punch and following it up with combos is the way to fight Canelo.
Different types of punchers. Canelo could see all of Golovkins punches coming, the same may not be the case against Danny. The difference is huge. If someone tells you they are going to punch you, your body prepares for it; if they sucker punch you, there is a good chance, even with a less powerful punch that you get sat down.
I happen to agree ... I think Canelo will struggle to deal with Jacobs' flurries. However, the lack of a great jab might be a problem for Jacobs as well.
Yeah either guy could get KO'd. They both can hit you with a punch you don't see. I don't feel like Golovkin has that in his arsenal.
Doubtful. Jacobs couldn't really hurt Sulecki and IIRC he scored a flash KD in the 12th round. Sulecki was out on his feet against Rosado, a guy with only respectable power. If Jacobs was this devastating puncher that can KO a guy who has never been down, I think he should have been able to stop/hurt a guy with a questionable chin. Canelo will win by decision, probably in the 8-4, 9-3 range. Or he might stop Jacobs late although I don't really see it happening.
