Canelo’s upper body movement in the first half was mesmerising, gotta give him that. However past roud 6, Canelo gassed out and what surprised me most was that he carried 0 power, none of his punches seemed to hurt jacobs, he landed some bombs on him and Danny didnt look bothered
7-5 Canelo was probably fair but I'll no doubt watch it back later today. A little bit disappointed in Jacobs. He didn't make enough usage of his size advantage. He doesn't plant his feet and make the punches stick enough. He has all the offensive attributes but is mortally afraid of answering fire, so attacks in pragmatic bursts which against ordinary fighters would be enough, but it's not enough against the Canelos and Triple Gs of the world.
Canelo clearly won that fight. I'm amazed people have scored a draw or even given it to Jacobs. Canelo won't atleast 5 of the first 6 and the 11th and 12th clearly.
Canelo won, and i think the judges intentionally made it close so they couldn't be accused of Canelo bias (but giving Canelo the win doesn't really matter). Buys them a bit more cred when they do want to screw a Canelo opponent out of a genuine win in the future
Draw or close Canelo win. My main take away is they both need GGG to be in a somewhat entertaining fight that's not against a no hoper. Jacobs really didn't look that different against Derevyanchenko and Canelo couldn't really bother Jacobs with his powershots.
This. When Jacobs started to up his rate I thought that he had a chance if he could maintain his level to the end of the fight. He didn't, Canelo came back strong in the 11th and he took the last as well. Sadly I don't think Danny had any margin for error and when he slowed down in the 11th for the first two minutes I thought his chance pretty much vanished. I had Canelo in front going in to the final round and I thought Jacobs corner should perhaps have been clearer in telling Danny that he had to put Canelo down to have a chance of a decision. Good fight though, very high level of boxing by both men. Respect to them both.
Canelo won. I was very disappointed with Jacobs, he looked two divisions higher yet he was backed up for the first six rounds. When he eventually woke up and started coming forward he got the better of canelo, plus he said that his corner told him he was up in the fight which I found staggering. I thought he blew it in the first six rounds.
