Hot Rod had never been dropped or stopped (bogus KD against Browne obviously doesn't count)

Callum Johnson had never been dropped or stopped

Koelling had never been stopped and AFAIA had never been down albeit I could be wrong about that

Prieto had never been stopped and AFAIA had only been down once before and that was a questionable KD where his feet were totally squared up and a punch around the back of the head sent him over. That's the same Prieto who hurt Eleider Alvarez about 3 times and had him in desperate trouble in round 6.

Maderna had never been stopped. Granted he's a SMW though.

Alexander Johnson had never been stopped

Jeff Page had never been stopped albeit he was stopped again a year after Artur stopped him. He's the only one of the aforementioned who has ever been stopped by anyone other than Artur.

Tavoris Cloud had never been off his feet before and had only been stopped once on a corner retirement at the end of round 7 against Adonis Stevenson.

Rayco Saunders had only been stopped once in 45 fights, loss avenged.

And even the journeymen Billly Bailey and Gabriel Lecrosnier who Artur fought are pretty tough and have only been stopped 13 times in 110 combined fights (including their fights against Artur).

beterbiev ko'd Hot rod fairly easily made it look like one of his first 6 fights in Quebec. this is what I expected. I thought it would end in 4 and it really should have. Hot rod showed the dangers of having a great chin. you take more punches and are more drunk. if it wasn't for Hot rod's angles of ducking and rolling with punches the fight would have been over in the first or 2nd.

I'm surpised two mod's picked Beterbiev to lose.

as for the title fights they all might be 50/50 fights but I'm not sold on Bivol especially after that Pascal fight.

I didn't pick Beterbiev to lose, I picked him to KO Hot Rod, but I wanted Beterbiev to lose, big difference.

He's grown on you a bit though right? I recall you saying that after the Johnson fight and watching some interviews which gave the impression of him being a decent guy. I liked Hot Rod as well and while I wasn't explicitly pulling for him an upset on his end wouldn't have really upset me either. Was a win/win kind if fight. Hopefully he can rebuild and get another big opportunity though. It really sucks that Browne's career has.moved forward while his stalled for a while.

He was just bullrushing his way in, squaring himself up and basically running at his opponent. If he does that he's likely to get laid out by a Kovalev counter punch just like Hopkins did. I can see Kovalev keeping it at distance with his jab and feet and making Artur pay in the first couple rounds when he does try to close distance as he isn't refined at doing so.

Beterbiev was a destroyer as usual who forces his man to fight back by attacking. While I think he hits hard, and has a good to very good chin, a short left or right counter can catch him inbetween his whirlwind attack. I wish he was a few year younger.

He might beat Kovalev, Bivol or the Nail. Fans will be guaranteed to get their monies worth, and the judging won't be an issue like say Canelo fights.

    Round 1 Kaladzjic 10-9

Artur comes out ultra aggressive winging looping left hooks. Hot Rod hauls ass, Artur misses both, Rod establishing his jab. Giving him later movement. Artur bumrushes him, Rod almost falls out of the ring running away from him. Hot Rod jabbing pressing frward, lands a one two. Beterbiev clips hi with a hook, they hold, roughhousing ensues. Ht Rod jabbing well now, following it up with the straight right. Beterbiev clipping him occasionally with left hooks, but not full impact. Artur giving Hot Rod a lot of lateral movement. Hot Rod pressuring, looking for an opening to land his right. Hot Rod jabbing consistently and lands a few more rights. Gets in close shoeshines the body of Artur. Hot Rod rolling with and ducking down, causing Artur to miss a lot. Close round. Cleaner work from Hot Rod.

    Round 1 Kaladzjic 10-9
    Round 2 Beterbiev 10-9

Artur comes out aggressive, jabbing now. Whacks Rod with a looping hook. Artur chasing him around the ring. Hot Rod still jabbing well. Artur leaping in with left hooks. Hot Rod still ducking down to avoid them, Artur gets warned from rabbit punches. Thudding right from Artur bounces off the side of Hot Rod's head. Hot Rod lands a crisp one two up top. Short right from Artur. Right knocks Hot Rod into the ropes. Hot Rod lands hard uppercut that jars Beterbiev momentarily. Beterbiev leaps on him, lands a several clubbing shots. Most don't land clean, but they're moving Kaladzjic. The pressure from Artur is starting to suffocate Hot Rod. He's fighting far more negatively now.

    Round 1 Kaladzjic 10-9
    Round 2 Beterbiev 10-9
    Round 3 Beterbiev 10-8

Artur comes out running, luges with one twos. Hot Rod backing into the ropes trying to avoid them. Artur is sloppy as hell here. Hot Rod trying to re-establish a jab. lands a straight right behind it. Artur's jab snaps Hot Rod's head back. They hold. Hot Rod bursts out of teh hold with a one two. Then a right. Now they're trading. Hot Rod lands a series of one twos. One seemed to rock Beterbiev. Beterbiev fires back lands a left hook that prompts Hot Rod to hold. They stand and trade in the middle of the ring, Hot Rod outlanding Artur, but Artur's shots are having far more of an effect. Hot Rod pays for his bravery, as he backs into the ropes and falls against them and almost takes a knee. It's ruled a KD. Artur backs him to the ropes. lands several cuffing hooks. Then later staggers Hot Rod with a flush overhand right.

    Round 1 Kaladzjic 10-9
    Round 2 Beterbiev 10-9
    Round 3 Beterbiev 10-8
    Round 4 Beterbiev 10-9

Artur goes in for the kill from the opening bell, letting his hands go, has Rod along the ropes pounding relentlessly, then walks into a counter left hook from Hot Rod. Beterbiev is hurt. Now Hot Rod follows up. Both men are flailing and missing shots, they look like uncoordinated wildmen. Ref breaks them u. Pace slows. Artur lands sharp thudding straight right, backs Hot Rod to the ropes head in chest smothering him, working the body now. Hot Rod holds. Artur backs him to the ropes, pins his arm down and holds him in place, lands several in close crushing left hooks rocking Hot Rod's head around on its axis. Dirty as hell. Hot Rod still firing back though. Beterbiev lands two brutal rights. Hot Rod still on his feet. SHort uppercut from Hot Rod. Artur seems gassed a lot of holding. Pace slows, Artur stalking looking for a shot, lands a savage overhand right that bunces offf of the top of Hot Rod's head. Somehow he remains on his feet. He's all over the place though. Hot Rod recovers and is coming forward again.

    Round 1 Kaladzjic 10-9
    Round 2 Beterbiev 10-9
    Round 3 Beterbiev 10-8
    Round 4 Beterbiev 10-9
Round 5 Beterbiev wins by TKO

The ref has the doctor look at him again, tells him he won't let him take much more. Bell sounds. Artur leaps on him, unloads, with several thudding overhands bouncing off of the top of his head, knocking it to the side, the ref immediately leaps in and calls a halt to the contest.

While I saw the finishing round and bits and pieces of this match the first time around, this was my first time seeing it from start to finish. Beterbiev was just way too reckless and fought like a whirling dervish, he walked into several bombs from Hot Rod and was slightly hurt, if he had more power Kaladzjic might have put him down. If he fights like this as a kamikaze against The Nail. He's going to pay for it dearly.
