How Jackson was an OK opponent for Lewis, but Ruiz is an "awful" opponent for AJ?

I know the grass was greener years ago and lennox Lewis could walk on water, but still I can't understand one thing - why people act like in the past EVERYTHING was better than now?

    Let's compare these title defenses:

Lennox Lewis (24-0) vs Phil jackson (30-1)

    and

Anthony Joshua (22-0) vs Andy Ruiz Jr. (32-1)

The records of contenders look almost identical, but Ruiz has much better resume than Jackson, who had beaten only 2 (two) half-decent journeymen before facing Lewis - Tony Willis and Lawrence Carter. Ruiz hs much deeper resume with the wins over Liakhovich, Dimitrenko, Johnson, Lawrence, Hammer, Hanks. Not a great one or good by any means, but still CLEARLY superios to Jackson's one.

Furthermore, Ruiz's single loss was a razor-close decision loss to Joseph Parker, who is the only guy whom Joshua failed to stop. Jackson's only loss was quick destruction from Donovan Ruddock, who himself was demolished in two rounds by... Lennox Lewis. So, the fans of "grass was greener" theory, please explain me how Phil Jackson was an OK opponent for Lewis and Andy Ruiz Jr. is an "awful" opponent for AJ?

In short I don't think Jackson was but would say that doesn't help Joshua.

When you talk about Lewis in the grand scheme of things who ever talks about his fight with Jackson? Noone. So this fight will be unlikely to do much for Joshua too IMO.

Andy’s foot and hand speed, his ability to get in and out, and his body attack makes him an awful opponent for aj.

Joshua has already said this could be a technical fight which points to him fighting like Wlad again.

I actually don’t mind the fight especially as a late replacement.. The only late replacement that would have been better ducked because he wasn’t gonna pass the VADA test..

The problem being when he fights a "technical fight" he does it with none of the style of Wlad and we all get bored by round 3.

What and leave himself open to counters?? If getting a win with a more cautious and patient approach is deemed the best strategy, then that's the way it will be. I'm sure he doesn't care wether your excited or not.

look it's a forum and I was replying to someone, why would you even think about what Joshua thinks?seriously no offence but if we all took that view Inc journalists we should have nothing worthy of reading for fear of what?
I've followed Joshua from the start and since the Wlad fight he's taken on a more careful approach, course I and the other poster know it doesn't matter a jot what we think but we have a right to call it boring.

Of course you have the right to express your view as I have a right to respond to your view and disagree with it.

My point was that he doesn't fight to make fans excited, he fights to win. If that is boring to some then I'm sure he wouldn't care. That's all.

Revisionist history, Lewis was slammed by the media for fighting Jackson. I don't know where this idea came from that Jackson was seen as a good fight?

For what it's worth I agree with your comment and I expect him to carry on in that manner but I couldn't care less what Joshua cares about to be sure.

I can't remember anyone saying Phil Jackson was an okay opponent.
I don't think anyone cared about Jackson at all, and Lewis certainly wasn't gaining any popularity or credibility by facing him. Lewis was actually looking more and more like a "paper champion" that his critics said he was (bavck in '93-'94), with every passing fight.
