Sullivan has always been an elite world class boxer. I remember when he beat Chad Dawson in the Jr. Olympics, I think back in 2000. Barrera took gold. It's a shame he started his pro career so late. Hes not anywhere near as fast as he once was -- though he was never a speed demon. Highly, HIGHLY skilled operator though, tough, cagey, great fight IQ, and sees and consequently hits openings.
So i guess the idea here is gilberto ramirez. Seems like a good, fairly matched fight. Neither is world class but seemingly match up well.
And how old is Barrera now? I specifically said he was NEVER a speed demon but that he had lost a noticeable amount of speed that he had in his youth. Dont disrespect him like that, he's been world class his whole life -- as an amateur and as a pro. Like I said, he beat Chad Dawson to win Gold in the Jr. Olympics. Say what you want about Dawson, but he was incredibly skilled and talented. Nobody ever said he was the best in the world -- hes obviously not -- but he fights the best competition he can and tests himself as much as he can. At least he gets in the ring and fights his balls off and lets it all hang out. Hes not what he once was but hes still 100% a world class operator.
