I don’t see why they do it

The other 3 bodies have it right

Canelo is young enough that he can drain down without affecting his performance (just like Spence).

And Canelo wouldn't have fought Jacobs without the rehydration clause.

So what do you think, Dumb Dumb?

Maybe the IBF shouldn't do it, but if they do then their rules would be applied consistently. If Canelo was going to be the heavier fighter on fight night then he wouldn't ask for it would he?

"Guys! Can we PLEASE stop talking about Canelo's drug use, stacked gloves, paid judges, custom weight classes, and rehydration clauses??? These things have ZERO AFFECT on the outcome of his fights!!!"

He obviously fought Jacobs even though he didn't adhere to the rehydration clause.

Jacobs tried. And it hurt him. You think he wanted to fork over half his paycheck in fines?

Yes, he was almost 4 pounds over at 8am. Im sure he was his standard 180+ 13 hours later when they met in the ring.

5 bucks says you have never complained about the IBF weigh rules. Which kinda makes you a hypocrite.

But I do get your point, i just dont agree with it. Some fighters have an easier time dehydrating their bodies, especially younger fighters. I am actually amazed that Jacobs has been a career MW thus far.
Chavez Jr. was notorious for his ability to cut weight.

I would also like to add that boxing fans tend to drool over every lb. But often on fight night the combatants tends to be in two different weight classes.
You think it's fair for Jaime Munguia to be a LHW at 175lbs on fight night?

I didn’t even know they did this until this past fight

If JM can make the weight without cheating, yeah, I do. It’s a physical advantage.
