Reckon I'll go to this Bill is some fighter, opponent isn't nothing to jump up n down about but I know a fair few who'll be there so might head down
Billy looks in tremendous shape and his hands appear quicker than I've seen before in his training videos. His opponent may not be up to much, but I love watching Billy at his best and like it or not, it's for a legitimate strap. It's not a PPV, so I don't understand the complaints, in comparison to some of the rubbish we've been served this year. It's a good solid Saturday fight night main event.
Saunders is a 1/100 shot. I'd remind you of the fact if you complain about uncompetitive fights in the future. The rest of the card features a stay busy for Joyce against a 42 year old who hasn't won a fight in two years, and a host of single figure winning record fighters against either cannon fodder or TBA. If you think we've been served up terrible cards this year I don't see how this wouldn't be one of them.
I usually enjoy franks cards and although the WBSS blows this and pretty much anything else out of the water I am overall glad BJS is back in the ring and may still fulfill some of his potential. That said, I understand the criticism because there's a big gap between the talk and the reality. This affair has been one of the more obvious manipulations of Franks links with WBO from the initial announcement to the farce of the interim belt and now the vacation by Ramirez. BJS is in the last chance saloon and I bet I'm not the only one that feels like that. His conduct in that video was despicable, and I choose that word quite deliberately. If you watch that and you can't call him out for it then there's something lacking in your own moral compass. So, let him have his cherry picked 'world title fight' against his cherry picked no Mark opponent. Let him get back on the treadmill and start looking for relevant fights. Let him not show up embarrassing himself (ha) and more importantly the sport on any more videos. But Frank and him should show some humility before they start braying in the aftermath of an inevitable victory. This guy is a talented arsehole, take the talent away and what are you left with? The fight is meh, the rest of the card is meh, the venue is meh, I hope everyone who goes enjoys themselves.
Agree with all of that. I am watching Fury and Saunders training together with interest. I get that they're two incredibly skilled and talented boxers - but i'm not sure if Saunders is the best influence for someone as unpredictable as Fury. Fury gave this bizarre interview to IFL on Saturday. He was grumpy throughout and gave some very strange answers. I watch their Instagram stories too and the pair of them seem to be obsessed with fast cars etc (makes me wary of the prospect of potential big money cash out fights). I'm not claiming any inside info, so for all I know it might be working really well. Hopefully Ben Davison can manage the pair of them - but Saunders seems a bit of a toxic character and a bad influence. I don't believe he can change his spots overnight so I hope it doesn't derail Fury's progress.
Yeah I thought Fury was truculent and resentful, a million miles away from his recent rebranding as some kind of messiah for the jilted generation. Was it some suspicion of ifl as too close to Matchroom or just a bad day at the office? Or is there a latent resentment of his home market for not taking him to their hearts in the way that AJ has been? Occasionally you get a sense of that I think, especially when he signed his top rank deal. Either way, not a good look. Davison seems like a great guy, positive, straightforward, likeable. Hope he gets the respect from those guys that he deserves.
I think it’s worth mentioning that Saunders attempted to drag Fury out of his overweight, depressed slumber. He was talking on the phone to him about suicidal etc so Saunders immediately sorted flights for him to join him in his training camp abroad, mess about, be around that environment. That was the beginning of the comeback trail for Fury. Saunders will inevitably do something stupid soon...probably Fury too, but together they seem to push each other on.
Saunders and Fury will only push each other on to the next level skill wise. I can only imagine some of the moves they are pulling of in training.
