Carl has been saying he'd come out of retirement for this at 175. No doubt he's just loving the bit of attention, desperate man that he is. In saying that, I'd love to see George batter him, which would be my prediction if the circus trilogy ever happened. At 42 Froch would be terrible. Groves could still mix it at the top. Eddie said he'd be interested in making it btw. Stranger things have happened.
The immediate response is it won't happen and its just Froch messing about. However.... There's a weird set of market conditions at the moment. A lot of the Brit fighters have been attracted to the US, there's a dearth of big name action in the UK despite boxing having been on the up over the last few years. The AJ show is temporarily out of town, Degale, Groves, Bellew, Haye etc departing the scene has left a vacuum and nature and boxing promoters abhors a vacuum. Chris Eubank sr alluded to Groves maybe making an exception to his retirement for the right offer as if he'd heard words to that effect. I don't discount it entirely, there may be people looking at the number of hits to the relevant videos, the amount of social buzz around the two fighters etc and if they've got some algorithms at work that translate to bums on seats, then at some point a more serious conversation could take place around potential ticket sales and PPV figures.
There is a bit of a gap in the market currently and we've had Haye vs Bellew twice, if the money is there I wouldn't bet against it
Lol Yeah attention Ummmmm He should take a different tact maybe Punch his dad cheat on his misuses Bang on about how he struggled to deal with not being the centre of attention under the bright lights on fight night I'm missing something else I'm sure And froch card for Clen boy and Jacobs was a draw iirc Only in this wasteland honestly to god
Fairly sure he had it a draw in fairness. I agree he's far from the best pundit and a bit of a thin skinned bloke, but I don't think he was that far off that fight.
If you were to look at both guys right now you'd probably say Groves looks like the one who has been retired for 5 years, so I can see why Froch wants it.
I loved Froch as a fighter in his prime, always thought he was one of the most entertaining british fighters of all time and criminally underrated as a boxer. That said i cant stand him as a pundit his complete lack of objectivity regarding any boxer who competes at a weight he could have realistically fought at iritates me no end.
