Arum has already said Lopez won't be there. Taking the ibf route, ESPN has the plan.

I mean, Lopez doesn't have to copy with this tournament. Arum will get him the fight earlier.

It'll be early 2021 before he fights Loma if he goes through with this tournament. He will be long gone to 140by then.

Luke ''Cool Hand Luke'' Campbell 2.0 new and improved - bigger, stronger, fitter, slicker, even more skilful and hitting harder than ever under the tutelage of Shane McGuigan fears no man, beast or god (ie. a Loma)

I'm not hyped for this fight at all. We all know that Loma is going to smoke Campbell.
Unifying is overrated in this environment man. Assuming Loma does unify he will simply vacate the titles or get stuck fighting IBF nonsense mandatories lol

Cool Hand Luke floored Teofimo in sparring

PHILADELPHIA — Luke Campbell had them going. The 2012 bantamweight Olympic gold medalist was in Miami, Florida, last year and became acquainted with a few folks there. Campbell is a fairly common name, though when it came up in conversation, someone would invariably ask Luke if he was related to 2 Live Crew lead man Luther Campbell, to which Luke replied, “Yeah, he’s my uncle.”

“Good, old Uncle Luther, and I’d tell them a few of his rapping lyrics came from me,” Luke said, laughing. “I had them going. It happened only two or three times, but two or three times is far too much. It was funny looking at their expressions, though.”

    Campbell is no joke.

He once downed Teofimo Lopez during a sparring session and, at 5-foot-10, the southpaw from Yorkshire, England, possesses a 71-inch reach and fire in his fists to go along with his dry sense of humor.

On Friday, Campbell (19-2, 15 knockouts) will take on Mexican Adrian Yung (26-5-2, 20 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight bout on the undercard of IBF world super featherweight titlist Tevin Farmer's third title defence against Jono Carroll, from Temple University’s Liacouras Center being shown live on DAZN in the U.S. and on Sky Sports in Britain.

Campbell’s two defeats came in a pair of split-decision losses, one against WBA lightweight titlist Jorge Linares, when Campbell was knocked down in the second round and battled back to make it a competitive fight in September 2017, and the other loss came against Yvan Mendy when Campbell recovered from a fifth-round knockdown in December 2015. Campbell later avenged the Mendy loss with a 12-round unanimous decision over the Frenchman last September, on the Anthony Joshua-Alexander Povetkin undercard.

Since the Linares loss, Campbell has won two straight and plans on staying sharp against Yung for another possible title shot later this year.

“Yung is a good technical boxer, with a good record and it looks like he carries a good bit of weight on his shoulders, so for me, it’s a good fight,” Campbell said. “It’s a fight that I have to go out and perform well. I need to stay active and stay busy, so I can be ready for bigger things.

“I want a world title shot. This year is my year. I want to define myself as the best in the division and eventually fight (Vasiliy) Lomachenko. But I have some business to take care of first. It’s one step at a time.”

Shane McGuigan, the 2016 BWAA Trainer of the Year, has been working with Campbell since a year. This will mark the second fight McGuigan has worked with Campbell.

“We were waiting for Mikey Garcia to vacate the IBF and WBC lightweight titles, since he’s obviously moved up to 147 pounds, and it would have been a bit nicer if he vacated earlier,” McGuigan said. “This is a warm-up fight, but we want to make a big show and a big statement against Yung.

“Luke is freak for the weight. He’s massive for a lightweight. He’s 139 right now three days out for this fight coming up. Luke is a lovely guy who’s very easy to work with. He has that Olympic pedigree and he’s sitting down more on his punches. If we were to fight Linares again, I’m very confident we could beat him.

“We’ve changed a lot of things. Luke, I thought, was doing too much sparring. We’re building his strength. But we have options. We could aim for Devin Haney, we could aim for Teofimo Lopez, who Luke has fought before in the gym, and dropped him as well. We’ll sit here patiently waiting and see what happens.

“Luke Campbell is the man at 135, and I think he would give Lomachenko nightmares. But first, we have to take care of business on Friday night.”

Meh. Maybe I'm the only one who saw Campbell thud heavily into his ceiling during the Linares fight. Loma makes this look like the Corolla fight imo.
Worst match making for Campbell imo, he should be cherry-picking more limited fighters if he wants to avoid another schooling.

Teofimo will go after the IBF belt, if Commey wants it.
I think Commey is looking to take an easy defense and then see what is out there. He said something about being tired of always being the B side.
Might be that he tells Lopez to **** off and goes after Loma himself.

I'm glad Mikey left 135. I don't think he wouldn't have fought either of these two. Nor Commey. Or Teo. Mikey just devaluing a belt with his cherry picks. The WBC made him 'Champion Emeritis' which i think means if he wants his belt back, he just has to say so.

What an unexpected great news for Loma. Rather than delaying the inevitable unification match, WBC simply cut the route and make their vacant title match a unification fight. They probably realizes Loma's value and his intention to be a sole unified champion of the division.

I saw Campbell's fights before and he does have high technical level. He was one of the boxers that I like to watch and followed in Olympics 2012. He would be a more difficult fight for Loma than Crolla. Actually I'd love to see Campbell to hold the champion belt first before meeting Loma, but well this isn't bad thing.

It seems Commey will have no choice to fight Lopez next. I don't know if IBF will grant him a voluntary match and how long he got before ordered to fight his mandatory, but after this event, apparently his chance to unify against Loma is a bit slimmer.

And for Lopez, he only has one option to win a title in 130 now, to win the IBF belt. This means he must work hard to keep his weight under control if he still intended to have a shot on Loma next year.

I have always wanted to see this matchup because I know Campbell has a good chance of pulling this off. No-one should be writing Campbell off here. A fight of the very highest quality which could go either way. It's time for Luke to prove the world wrong, win or lose.

Forget AJ vs Wilder and Spence vs Crawford, THIS is the one. We are going to see boxing at it's very very best.

Expecting 7-5 for Loma on points, but boy is he in for a tough challenge. Nobody should be ruling Campbell out. He was in a bad mental state in the build-up for the Linares fight after the death of one of his family. This time he'll be in the zone, fully motivated and I expect Campbell to really give Loma a tough contest.

If anyone is going to beat Loma, Campbell is the only one who can because he's the only one who has the experience to hold his own. The rest don't have a hope in hell, the rest are levels below.

Corruption? Not supposed? It makes perfect sense if a boxing sanctioning organization wants the best two available candidates fight for their title.

It's also conforms to their rules and regulations (https://wbcboxing.com/wbceng/Rules/WBCRulesandRegulationsJanuary2014.pdf):
