Something that I have not seen mentioned on here once, something that Sky commentators only said once during the fight and then quickly changed the subject, what is this something? On the night before the fight, the fire alarm inside Usyk's hotel was set off, at 4AM, a false alarm of course, nevertheless, Usyk had to sit up from his sleep and put on his hotel issued slippers and housecoat and go and stand outside in the cold. After the precautionary checks by the Fire Brigade, he went back to his bed. When it came to the fight, he won almost every single round, not that the Sky commentators noticed. They were too busy brown-nosing at every shot by Bellew (80% missed shots). Usyk then proceeded to give Bellew what he needed; a brutal KO to show him he was never any good anyway. Usyk, a beautiful boxer and a great champion, a real man.
Nobody has responded because everyone is a Bellew fanboy? Or because everyone is grieving and in anguish due to today's shocking news on Usyk's torn bicep?
Usky is a former top amateur used to fighting all over the world under all kinds of conditions a true pro im sure this didn't bother him at all
With a stroke of luck, the fight that day was not until around 10PM, so Usyk probably stayed in bed a little later, especially after having his beauty sleep interupted at 4AM. Nevertheless, not only did he make it to work on time but he also put in a real good shift. The task at hand was much more easier than what he has become accustomed to, so that helped a lot. He went home a proud man that day.
Former WBC champ Richie Woodhall on fighting abroad ''An agonising wait followed as Woodhall tried to secure a bout with WBC middleweight titlist Keith Holmes. Woodhall went into the challenge three weeks after having had surgery on his right elbow and on the back of a nine month layoff. Duff later denied knowledge of Woodhall’s surgery; he insisted that he had done everything within his power to deliver the world title shot in a timely manner. “I was frustrated that it had taken so long,” argued Duff when speaking to the Sports Argus in 1999. “You can't get world title shots just like that, it doesn't happen. And I never knew Richie was injured beforehand. He never told me but I would have got him another world title shot.” The build-up to the fight was further impacted by Duff’s failure to secure home advantage, Woodhall had to travel to Maryland, and this contributed to his inability to reproduce his domestic form. “Yeah,” revealed Richie when asked if travelling had hindered him in the Holmes fight. “I was mandatory challenger for the title and Mickey told me that if I didn’t go for it then I’d probably have to wait another fifteen months. I had to go over there. My right elbow was damaged as well, I had had a rushed operation just before the fight, but I still thought I’d beat Holmes.” He continued: “Fighting away from home opens your eyes. People were knocking on my hotel room door at 4am. They took me for a medical and said they’d lost all my forms, which was nonsense. I was taken on journeys that were meant to be fifteen minutes long but lasted an hour. “I lost fair and square on the night and there are no excuses but things were bad from the start. Everything is against you. The crowd, the promoter and the local people, they try to make it as uncomfortable as possible. If you win a title abroad then you’re a true champion, no doubt.” Woodhall is one of the few boxers to admit he lost a fight in which he'd been awarded the decision. He shook his head as the decision was announced for his fight against Glenn Catley and then in the post-fight interview said that Catley won the fight and that he didn't deserve it.
Shows true class. Keep focus and composure regardless of the situation. Adversity doesn't give you character, it reveals it.
If Usyk had lost due to a bad case of pneumonia, this would be significant. As it is, maybe Bellew was involved in disrupting Usyk's beauty sleep, or maybe he wasn't. It doesn't really matter.
Perhaps! The quickest way to reveal a person's character is to put them in a tough spot. Let a man loose his job, house and wife. Will he try to better himself, admit he too made mistakes or will he blame his boss, wife and go on a shooting spree? That being said there are people that have terrible bosses and lousy wives and complaining is nothing more than telling the truth.
