Sky needs to end the exclusive deal with Matchroom and offer a number of shows every year to other promoters.

There needs to be competition to keep Matchroom honest, and that been proven in the past 6 months.

Whoever gave Matchroom an exclusive deal should be sacked.

The DAZN/US thing is an unsustainable bubble that will burst, but Hearn is going all in balls deep on it and has taken his eye off the ball in the UK

If that were the case, what shows might we see?

Even if Warren was having the majority of his cards on Sky I don't see how this would keep Matchroom 'honest.' The upcoming Saunders card for example is absolutely dreadful, and indeed significantly worse than what Sky are offering up on the same night!

People make it out there is this huge gulf between Matchroom & Queensbury and there really isn't...both put on decent shows, both put on utter ****

People make out that there’s these great shows going on elsewhere around the country that Frank and Eddie don’t have a part of. There isn’t. If Sky were to open up to all promoters the only one of note would be MTK and their still in the early stages of ascendancy.

    Natural free market competition

By having multiple promoters the implication is always that if promoter A doesn’t deliver he can be sacked, or more of the available shows are given to promoter B.

Hearn has absolutely cracked it, he has some how made the likes of Bellew vs Haye, Dillian Whyte and various other PPV. He's created this jack the lad persona a far cry from his private silver spoon upbrining but the masses have bought into him being ah wahey of the lads down the pub on a friday etc

    100% this.
There's too many cards and not enough 'name' fighters at the moment.
To think that any other promoter is capable of putting on better shows with the resources they have is ludicrous.

It’s more obvious than ever that there should never be one promoter controlling the broadcaster. Completely stupid idea, it’s allowed Hearn to put mismatch after mismatch and crap on for years. It’s nothing new, it’s just that the shows are more sparse and even worse since everyone’s ****ed off to America.

The main thing is, it's all about viewing figures and that's where it'll all come to a head.

I don't think we appreciated how good we had it when Hearn & Matchroom came back to the top a few years ago, we got some great fights and shows on the normal Sky subscription, but that was all so we'd get names and faces built for PPV - the likes of Brook and Bellew etc. And that#s not an Eddie love in, that's a fact. yes we got some absolute piles of **** alongside it all, but as above, it was all about Sky and Matchroom rebuilding a PPV platform.

AJ came along and it was the golden goose, an olympic gold medal winning heavyweight with knock out power and the "IT" factor, arena sell outs became stadium sell outs, 300k on PPV used to be a huge success, now anything less than a million on AJ fights is a disaster.
This got Hearn the global name and brand, this is what got him the Dazn deal and now he's using that to do what we all would, make himself more money by getting the like of AJ in the USA.

This is how it's going to be for the next 3/4 years while we see how the Dazn deal works out. All our fighter will now be in the USA, the new crop of Buatsi and Kelly etc will be going to the US once they'e broke through. The only way this fails is if people stop watching it.

Sky will of course be disappointing on the UK quality, but if they get 500k watching Canelo at 3am in the morning, nothings going to make them change their deal.
Either don't watch or get used to it.
