Deontay has claimed previously he didn't want to fight until his late 30's to early 40's. I could see him retiring in 2021 possibly. He's definitely a hall of famer as it stands, I could definitely see first ballot here.

He won`t be in the hall of fame while AJ and Fury are unbeaten, I feel Usyk might be able to beat Wilder also.

That doesn't disqualify him, and plus he hasn't lost either if going by your standards.

Plenty of fighters who got into the hall of fame with contemporaries going undefeated.

Class of 2026-2027 is more likely when Windmill finally graduates high school

    Interesting thread.

It really all depends on how long he will run from AJ for. Yes if he has to fight AJ in 2021 then I would say he retires after that..

If his team can string together some more excuses for even longer then I could see him fighting longer..

I'd imagine he would get a HOF induction for track and field endeavours being one of USA most consistent runners of the last couple of years..

Wilder's most notable wins are Ortiz, Duhaupas, Stiverne, Spzilka and Washington level type guys. Whilst also ducking several of the top fighters in his era.

There are about half a dozen guys with better resumes at HW than him at present so you setting the bar to become a HOF boxer very, very low indeed.

He isn't a first ballot HoFer and it is questionable if he gets in at all since he hasn't beaten anyone of note. Plus he is most famous for being Tyson Furys punching bag.

    On what basis?

If you looked at his resume in isolation you'd never have him down as a former champion - it's really thin on quality.

He might get in there (undeservedly) on the basis of a long title reign, even if it's one characterised by the lack of contender level defences (with the exception of a robbery draw).

This shouldn't be a shoe-in... I won't be surprised if it happens, but it shouldn't.

He will get in. They will reference the KO percentage, the length of his WBC reign, and his number of defenses.

Only way he gets in, is by buying a ticket. He never reached the top spot in the division or the top 2. Very few heavies that never rated higher than 3rd place get in. And he couldn’t get 1 win in a trilogy with the best fighter he fought. He’s a firm no. Right now it’s Wlad goes in, Usyk goes in with his Cruiser accomplishments, Fury likely goes in and if Joshua can come back he might go in. But right now no Wilder at all. That’s it.
