No he's not & never could be. He was gifted a "draw" & a "win" over GGG plus he really lost to Lara & Trout
    GGG really is Moo's Daddy

    Trailblazer.

People take it for granted now that an elite non-heavyweight Eastern Bloc fighter can headline over here and receive network support, but that wasn't the case when they brought GGG over; far from it. Guys like Kotelnik and Pirog got their careers blackballed here for either showing up the house fighter (or knocking them out).

GGG came in as an undercard fighter because HBO's new management was looking for cheap action fighters to fill their cards out in the face of perpetual budget cuts. The original plan was to push the winner of GGG-Pirog (who they'd finally brought back to the States after they exiled him for the crime of knocking out Danny Jacobs). They didn't expect him to grow into a dude selling out arenas coast to coast, and he only got there by knocking out contender after contender.

Now, a whole region of fighters who couldn't catch a break in the US at least has a glimmer of hope of getting actual promotional support in this country instead of just being brought over as "the opponent". They're still back in the pecking order behind American and Latino fighters, but at least they can get a push now. And GGG is a big reason why.

LMFAO at the people acting like he was somehow HBO's protected prize investment. That's a quick way to let me know you don't know jack about the business and finance side of things, because in no universe does any of HBO's team walk in to a meeting and decide a guy nobody knows from a country nobody can spell should become the network's chosen one- that's fighting against demographics, and that's not how networks work. The dude had to earn it first by delivering exciting knockouts and good ratings on the regular for them before they supported him to land next-level fights.

That makes it all the more disappointing to me that his recent career has turned in to a jaded cash grab, but that doesn't undo that his overall net impact was a positive one.

Why do you hate on him so much? He just started to work with a black American coach.

    Why are you so paranoid?

This **** doesn’t exist in Europe or Mid Asia where is he coming from. If you have a look on Kazakh people, he doesn’t even similar to them but they still like him as their own and he is the national hero there.

It sold a lot more tickets than "Kazakh Style" would've here lol. Abel's PT Barnum schtick definitely helped get him cross over into the Mexican fanbase, which was crucial for him getting popular in America.

Imagine the hype if he'd been an actual Mexican!

Your friend is clearly a racist and it hurts him so much that one of the best and one of the most popular fighter these days is a “white boy”
