On the record of which non-champ can we find the most wins against world champions (recognized by BoxRec)?

Jimmy Britt beat Kid Lavigne, Frank Erne, Young Corbett II and Battling Nelson.

I'm sure other people have got more though.

Lloyd Marshall beat Ezzard Charles, Teddy Yarosz, Ken Overlin, Jake LaMotta, Joey Maxim, Freddie Mills, maybe some I missed.

Marshall also beat Brouillard - so that's a total of 7 world champions defeated.

However, the question is not the number of champions - but the number of wins against champions.

Lloyd Marshall also beat Babe Risko, so that is 8.

This is a toughie. One would think in this day and age it would be easy with so many titles about and so many champions that someone would have beaten an enormous amount of champions. However, it is so easy to win a strap these days that they generally pick one up which eliminates them from contention on this subject. A toughie. Don't know if Lloyd Marshall can be beat on this one.

The nearest I can come up with to Lloyd would be 6. Aurel Toma, a Romanian bantamweight beat Benny Lynch, Valentin Anglemann, Young Perez, Spider Pladner, Joey Archibald and Jackie Callura.

Whoa, spoke too soon. Jimmy Bivins tied Marshall with wins over Ezzard Charles, Archie Moore, Joey Maxim, Gus Lesnevich, Melio Bettina, Anton Christoforidis, Teddy Yarosz and Billy Soose.

Remember: It's not about which non-champion beat the most champions - but about who scored the most total wins against champions. And our man is neither Marshall (who actually beat 9 world champs - we forgot he also holds a win over Christoforidis ) or Bivins.
