    In an, I won't say not embarrassing, but at least honest way. Not like MMA crossovers Gus Johnson and Mauro Ronallo. When they commentate, you cringe because they're passionate in an over-the-top, cartoonish and cheesy way but you know they're phonies just earning a check (and would rather be watching men roll around on the ground )... whereas Jim, while he can still make you cringe, is a boxing man through & through, and reverent student of the game.

    Lamps has been passionate to say the least. While we mostly know him from HBO boxing, don't forget the work he has done commentating on 14 Olympic games starting in 1976. The guy has been pretty dedicated to sports for many years.
