Yes, AJ wasn`t aworld class fighter when he beat Breazale, he was still learning, he would stop him quicker now and so will Wilder, Breazale is nowhere near their respective levels of class.
When AJ knocked out Breazeale, he dominated every second of every round. Breazale went into a shell, trying his hardest not to get knocked out and landed 35 punches in 7 rounds. Instead of rushing or forcing it, AJ took his time to find openings and got the job done quite easily.
It doesn't really matter . Joshua toyed with Breazeale because it was only his 17th fight. And had him wobbly anyway at the end of round 2 . I'm going to say no because I can see Wilder winning more near round 10 and can see him losing near round 6. So this isn't an AJ controller fight , it's a Wilder one which is always cause for concern.
AJ has performed better against every common opponent they share amateur and pro or at least the ones I'm aware of. Donkey beat Mohamed Arjaoui on countback + 10 -10 AJ beat Arjaoui 16-7 AJ stopped Jason Gavern in 3 in just his 11th fight, Donkey stopped him in 4 in his 31st fight AJ destroyed a juiced Eric Molina in 3 in his 17th fight with contemptuous ease, Molina hurt Donkey and gave him a tough fight, lasting into the 9th against a 33-0 Donkey Let's see if a 40-0-1 (granted it should be 40-1-0 or 2-1 against opposition with a pulse even if it was only half beating) Donkey can outdo what a 16-0 AJ did to Breazeale lol
He might knock him down earlier. Mansour and Ugonoh did, but were ultimately stopped themselves. Wilder will need to pile on the pressure though, and ensure he doesn't let Breazeale back in the fight.
Does it even matter? This content is protected AJ took his time between explosive combinations. Wilder will most likely fight in a similar manner. It comes down to Breazeale. Against Joshua he fought a rather passive fight. He might do the opposite with Wilder.
Wilder doesn't throw variety combos and doesn't have ability to take his time if Breazeale decided to put pressure on.
Breazeale is a long ways from the AJ fight. Wilder should not take him lightly because he has matured as a fighter. His skills have matured in a moderate fashion but mentally he is very strong. He knows how to manage himself in that ring a whole lot better. His fight with AJ is no indication of how a fight between them now would go. I think there could be some surprises. I still think that AJ would pull it out because of his technique but it would a much closer and harder fight. I hope Wilder took a profound look at his fight with Fury and made the proper adjustments because he can't take the shots from Breazeale as regular as he took them from Fury.
Have you see Wilder? He absolutely looves to take his time. He knows how to slow down a fight. And Breazeale never was a high volume pressure fighter. He applies pressure but doesn't smother his opponents. He drags them into wars.
