I still have not yet seen the Khan/Gomez fight. How did Khan look? Given Gomez isn't anything special did Khan show any improvements or development, or was it just a blowout?

Gomez dropped him in the 2nd and badly hurt him to the body in the 4th. Khan was fast and strong and was dominatn for the most part but still showed he had weaknesses and isnt ready for a world title shot.

Khan's defence was totally **** in this fight. He showed he had big trouble dealing with effective pressure.

Gomez would rush in behind his high guard, and Khan didn't have the lateral movement to box. He just kept backing straight up, and then leaving his head straight in front of gomez in close quarters.

He showed his natural talent in parts, but also showed his in-experience as a pro fighter. I have no doubt that Gamboa will progress quicker than Khan as a pro, even though Khan has been fighting longer.

Eventually, if Khan can get more and more experience and iron out these kinks in his armour, he could become a very good fighter. His hand speed was good, and his combination and offense was quite impressive at times.

Still, he looked less then invincible, against a very beatable opponent. didn't look as good as he had in his last few fights, that is unquestionable.

I was surprised with Gomez.I thought he was shot.Khan decked him first with a quick combination but in the 2nd rd decked Khan from a left hook.He really had Khan working forcing him to fight on the inside but Khan showed his speed and was very accurate with the headshots. It was a really good fast action fight imo and the fight was stopped in the fifth with Gomez absorbing too many shots.Although a good display by Amir Khan he isn`t ready for the top men yet.

Premature stoppage but not a bad fight. Khan still makes a lot of mistakes, gets carried away too quick and just fights as an amateur still. A world title shot anytime soon could be a big mistake, 2 more normal fights with some signs of improvements and he should be ready for a shot.

Good assessment. I just watched the fight and I agree with you. His hand speed, combos, and just offense in general was impressive. Obviously still has to work out some flaws, but no one is complete at only 21. I still question that chin of his though, which unfortunately cannot be changed.

It looked like a legit temple shot to me. I will have to go back and check it out but it looked like his legs also gave when he was hit. He did seem ok afterwards but if I had a nickel for every time a guy was laughing and saying he was ok and then got ktfo......

Pretty exciting fight though. For a small period of time I thought Gomez was going to pull it off, he looked like he was having the fight of his life

Scratch that, it looked to be a solid chin shot and he looked fine afterwards
