Don't know about hurt boxing , I think it would make it more exciting and open . I'm an AJ fan but if Ruiz won I would say WOW!! well done he achieved what I thought was not possible .

I think what AJ brings to boxing is the fact he is a master champion and a level to be fought for . I hope Ruiz makes it a good fight and it will be interesting to see AJ on foreign soil defending as it will prove something Fury and Wilder have yet to do , that is make a successful defense of being Champion on away ground .

No, it would be totally hilarious. I would love to see Braezale stop Wilder and Ruiz stop Joshua. That being said, neither will likely happen.

I think it goes one of two ways

It could result in Joshua being completely embarrassed losing a huge amount of his marketability and him basically disappearing and talks of him having big fights with fury and Wilder basically come to an end

The other possibility is that this is just his Lewis versus McCall moment or his Klitschko versus Sanders moment where he sustains a temporary embarrassment but still goes on to be a long reigning champion and take on top fighters and make a Ton if money

I actually find that there are plenty of similarities between Ruiz and Sanders. Both men have potential and skills and attributes that make them dangerous but both so far have failed at the top level and are coming off of layoffs. Also both of these fighters got the fight after a list of other challengers turned down the opportunity for the title fight. The fans were clamoring for Klitschko versus Lewis and Joshua versus wilder

    Just food for thought

In the immediate I think it would be a huge embarrassment for Joshua Hearn would have a Lotta egg on his face other top fighters like Wilder And fury would use it as a told you so moment I think casual fans would see boxing as a joke and a lot of classic fans would point to this as another reason to mock the current state of the sport

This is happening for one reason and one reason only. Ruiz is Mexican American and he would be the first Mexican HW champion in history. Mexicans are such ravenous fans that the money and interest would skyrocket. Not going to happen, though, since AJ is going to make short work of him.

It would be hilarious if all the belts at HW were held by these 2 by the end of the year

Really? I didn't think Mexicans regarded Mexican Americans as being one of their own especially when they happened to be matched against a real Mexican native. Or was it just De La Hoya that they felt that way about?

It would be the best thing to happen to heavyweight boxing in the last few years. It would show the top 3 there are risks associated in stalling those big pay fights everybody wants to see as they have been.

Also Joshua is an arrogant robotic bodybuilder. So it would be nice to see someone skilled in boxing exploit him.

There are a lot of things that could be taken from it, probably the wisest ones would be that "anything can happen" and that you shouldn't read too much into how someone is built when it comes to a sport which relies heavily on technique, timing, ring IQ, and guts (chortle). But no, people will act like it just proves how shallow the talent supposedly is currently instead of enjoying the ride.

Realistically, we are very unlikely to have to cross this bridge - a Joseph Parker who at the time was having major issues with his arms and was previously said to have been in a place where they wouldn't have taken a fight at that time aside from the fact it was an opportunity to get a world title... if a well less than 100% Parker could beat (albeit incredibly narrowly) Ruiz with a much less significant reach/height advantage, I have no idea how Ruiz is going to do against a guy with Joshua while he's arguably peaking and has massive physical advantages.

I think Ruiz's toughness is going to be enough to make this fight a complete hiding, if he doesn't get KTFO we'll have to hope that his corner have mercy.

What, you think boxing isn't already 'hurt' as it is? A hype-job like Joshua being 'the face of boxing' isn't any better for the sport of boxing.

Joshua is a cherry-picking, protected fraud who has been spoon-fed his entire career, starting from the amateurs. Someone who's actually not protected and fighting in level fields, is better for boxing.

He has less chance than Charles God Martin had. You shouldn't worry about things that aren't possible

You needn't worry. AJ will floor him in 5.

It wouldn’t be that bad, since bigger upsets have happened and Ruiz despite appearances is a very talented fighter, but often underperforms due to laziness. Even if Ruiz showed up and managed to knockout out Joshua Ruiz like Douglas most likely wouldn’t hold the belt for very long and I’m sure Joshua has a rematch clause.

If he comes in under 250lb I think Ruiz has a solid punchers chance on Joshua. He has to do what Povetkin was doing in the early rounds vs Joshua. Take the fight to him and pressure him. Do that and anything can happen.
