Interesting fight. Ray Robinson is actually pretty decent- never world title level, but always has floated about the Top 10 of most bodies. Mixed in much better opposition than Kelly and if Kelly fights like he did last fight he's in trouble...
Seems a decent opponent for Kelly’s 10th fight. A big step up from what he has been facing. 25 on boxrec and in the top 15 with the WBC - it could be a lot worse.
Good exposure but I hope they still follow the ordered ebu route and he fights the David A/Lerranga rematch winner after this
I agree. Good fight and a good test. If he gets through this he will have bridged the gap a little bit to the avanesyn fight. It will put him in better shape. I hope he fights for the European against avanesyn so that setback, having to pull out can be forgotten about.
Hard fight for Kelly, and one that I won't be shocked if he loses. Looked a bit off the boil in his last fight and had all that previous carry on with the bogus illness etc. and it just seemed like something wasn't quite right behind the scenes. On the other hand, if he's 100% switched on and has no fitness or weight making issues, then he's got a chance to get a good win here. He is undoubtedly talented, but he needs to get everything else to click as well if he does want to progress further.
Actually not to bad a fight tbh, Kelly should come through but I can't shake the feeling he will get found out in a similar style to Gill the other night.
Decent fight though Robinson can be absolutely horrible to watch. Don't be surprised if this is a close decision.
He’s a busy lad in the ring judging by the fights against Ugas (strangely he fought orthodox) and Alimjanov. Kelly will have to work at a higher pace than he enjoys imo. He’s not tasted victory for 2 years though and that last one was against Prescott who was a shot to pieces opponent at that stage. Nice little step up though, will do him good this one.
I thought he deserved the nod against Kavaliauskas (be amazed if I've spelt that correctly) last time out, who himself was a pretty solid prospect. That fight was a stinker though, hopefully that isn't the case here. Agree RE the pace, be a real test of how well he's made the weight.
I’ve never seen the fella, so will have a look on YouTube. The fight seems to have gotten a positive response on here though which is good.
