Not sure about now, but younger Froch might do it. He can box cleverer than people think, look at Groves II or Kessler II. Groves couldn't land the same in the second because Froch respected his power by then and was smarter. I don't think Kov hits much harder than Groves, if he even does hit harder. Froch took flush rh's from Groves for half a fight and still kept coming. Groves is like Kovalev being an explosive sniper who fades and has to manage his tank. This means Froch could potentially weather Kov and grind him down. I think Groves is mentally tougher than Kov too, who did behave strangely in the Ward II fight to be honest. Froch has the mental, chin and stamina edge in this fight. If he sensed Kov's power and energy depleting he would jump all over him and he hits harder than Ward. Not saying Kov can't hurt Froch or outbox him, but he's been undone twice by fighters with stamina who took (or avoided) his early assault.

This is a terrible post. Just flat out terrible.

I can't even begin to dismantle it, such is the horrific level of ignorance on display here.

Agreed Ward outclassed Froch every which way, but acting like Froch has no skills because of that is a stretch.

Ward was just that style that Froch couldn't handle, and was very good at it.

Yeah Froch's skill set was not elite. He crossed his feet, was relatively easy to hit, and often defended with his chin. Problem is, for those who want to downgrade him based on the eye test (which he does not pass very well) is the fact he had an ATG chin, amazing powers of recovery on the rare occasions that chin let him down and a quite incredible engine - Ward was hanging on in the 11th and 12th rounds despite outclassing him the previous 10.

Factor in heavy hands, a burning desire to win and mental fortitude and you start to see why he's rated so highly. That said, prime-4--prime vs Kov? Nah. And if he came out of retirement and fought a faded Kov, now? Still, nah....

He's having a mini midlife crisis. He'll stay retired once he's climbed back out of that rabbit hole....

Rofl always the same history. A guy telling me that I have no clue about boxing because when I see Froch I see a caveman with no resources.

Well, good for you to have such imagination to see somthing apart from that in froch's boxing, dude.

How did a "caveman" with "absolutely no tools" defeat Groves? Kessler? Taylor? Abraham? Bute? Dirrell?

Did none of them have any skills either? You're a plastic boxing fan. Pretends he knows the sport but doesn't know sheeeet.

    Kovalev inside the distance
Sure Froch was tough no question but recalling how he seemed hurt by Pascal, Dirrell, Taylor and Groves at SMW, I think Kovalev would have stopped Froch.
Froch didnt look to me to have the build to be a big LHW

I say this as a fan of Froch.

Lol what are you people smoking saying Kovalev doesn't hit harder than Groves and Froch. Kovalev has one of the hardest jabs in the game alone, and even rocked Ward with just a jab.

Lest we forget, as Carl Froch said himself he can't be knocked out!! No way curencu Kov could v prime Froch but prime Kov probably would have. Still a decent fight today and would have to respect Froch for taking it as a comeback fight after 3+ years out of the ring!

I would like to see the size difference with these 2 standing next to each other, both are around 6ft and both are long armed/long bodytype

Correctly trained Kovalev destroys froch. Kovolev over or under trained could be in trouble if it lasts into second half

At his best, Kovalev witout question. The depleted Kovalev, Froch has a reasonable chance of winning against.

At their peaks, Kovalev out points him. Now? Kovalev stops him easily.
