I feel McCallum`s best weight was light middle though despite him outclassing Watson in their title clash.
I agree that McCallum outclassed the pre prime Watson (or at least on the world level for his first time). But Watson gave a good account of himself IMO. McCallum calls him the strongest guy he ever fought and one of his toughest fights. Interesting he also calls Graham the best boxer he fought. I can’t find the ring link but I have a link to the article I pasted from there a while ago. https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/mike-mccallum-the-best-ive-faced.424010/
Man what did @Xplosive get booted for? I miss his threads on the lighter weight divisions already. Hopefully it is a short boot. Oh well
Eubank proved his worth time and time again. He beat Watson,Benn,Wharton, and alot of very good boxers . Eubank is very business savvy and realized boxing is a business. Did Eubank duck certain fighters? Yes. When the risk outweighed the reward he certainly did that because he was in a position to do such. Graham on the other hand HAD to fight everyone . His style dictated he really couldnt turn down bouts.
It's not even a question. Chris Eubank was a proven world class fighter who was world champion for a long time Herol Graham was a nearly man who always found a way to lose, he had too many flaws to ever beat the top boys. Graham fans always mention him falling short against World class fighters, but they never mention him getting KO'd at British title level against a low level fighter like Frank Grant! Graham lost at every level -british title level, european title level, world level. He has no good wins. He could only win against C Level fighters. He failed miserably everytime he stepped up. He was a big game choker who would always find a way mentally to blow it. His resume is weak. He's the most overrated British fighter ever.
Eubank ducked McCallum who toyed with Watson, if Graham fought Benn for the WBO middleweight title he would have beaten him and he might have beaten Watson also, after Jackson knocked out Graham Eubank said in the studio that he would not fight Jackson.
if/ Would have/ could have/ should have - that's all you Graham fans ever say! It means nothing. Benn was far more proven in actual results and not fairytales.
Benn made both fights against Eubank and Watson. He completely ran out gas gas against Watson and to a lesser extent against Eubank. To use words like shambolic and exposed is silly because he gave both of them hell, but he learned from it. Benn's wins against McClellan and Barkley top any wins Eubank and Watson achieved, his wins against Doug DeWitt and Robbie Simms were not bad either.
Barkley looked like he was fighting in slow motion v Benn. He looked like something was wrong with him v Watson, he just kept punching his arms, it was like a poor mans rumble in the jungle and a lot like Honeyghan punching at Starling`s high guard for no reason at all.
