Where's the evidence Canelo punches harder than Hopkins ? Are you kidding me ? Hopkins hadn't had a KO since 2004 . Hopkins was well into his 40s when he schooled Pavlik, you're telling me a prime Canelo wouldn't be able to do what a 40-something Hopkins did to Pavlik or worse ? Pavlik is nowhere near as skilled or as fast as Canelo. Yes he has size and a decent chin but that body or face is not going to hold up to Canelo target practice over 12 rounds. If Pavlik manages to last the distance his nose would be a bloody mess. His body would be punished worse than he's ever been hurt in his entire career. Canelo is so much smaller he can land to the body with even more regularity than he normally does.
Pavlik pre title stops Canelo he would walk him down and stop him,, Pavlik is one of those guys as soon as he got a title something changed he lost that desire,, The Miranda or Taylor 1 Pavlik stops Canelo,, Kelly wasn't the same guy after he won the title he became less active in the ring,, The Sergio or Hopkins Pavlik was a one trick pony! prior to his title fight he was a pressure fighter who would walk you down no matter what was coming his way!!
Hopkins had a respectable KO ratio at Middleweight, what's Canelo's KO ratio at MW.... 0%? Do you really think Canelo could stop Joppy, Eastman or the version of Taylor that B-Hop fought? As far as the match against Kelly, it was at a catchweight, he was facing a 170 Light Heavyweight version of Hopkins. YES, I'm telling you Canelo WOULD NOT do anything close to what B-Hop in his 40's did to Pavlik, because B-Hop would beat Canelo as well. Get Canelo's dick out of your gullet, its blocking the oxygen to your brain. Pavlik vs. Canelo would look similar to the first GGG match, only with Kelly being more relentless and landing more, because he threw more.
Jermain Taylor was 6'1 Hopkins is 6 or 6'1ish Saying their movements gave Kelly issues therefore Canelos will... who... fights nothing like them and is about 4 inches shorter at least, is just pretty baseless, imo. At some point youre simply not big enough to be effective against a certain level of opponent, especially when you have a habit of gassing in the fight.
Also, outside of maybe the second Golovkin fight, Hopkins would outperform Canelo against every single opponent hes ever fought, and would also beat Canelo. So citing Hopkins here is also somewhat pointless. It would make more sense to bring up Martinez. But even then... Canelo is shorter than Sergio, fights nothing like him, and has worse stamina.
Canelo fan here, but Pavlik is all wrong for my boy. If ever there was a bad stylistic match up for Canelo, here is one. Canelo's skills do look legit, but he is yet to prove himself against an elite level / A level opponent in his prime.
Joppy? Damn right hed stop joppy. Canelo is too sharp and precise with his punch placement, that he'd look even worst than he did vs Hopkins, if he fought the red nosed pitbull.
Caenlo would win. Pavlik would get countered all night and killed to the body. Canelo and Hopkins have some of the same moves.
