I don't have him breaking the Top 10 but then again I never cared for his attitude. What a ****ing idiot when asked how he would do against Marciano Holmes responded "Marciano couldn't carry my jockstrap." Regardless of how Maricano would have done and, of course, we will never know, what a jackass comment. He said the same kind of thing about Ali. The guy was the Rodney Dangerfield of boxing, always feeling slighted.

Marciano couldn't. And Holmes was slighted.

People didn't even start to appreciate Larry Holmes until he was a former champ trying to come back against Mike Tyson. Holmes wept in the ring after the Mercer fight, because it was one of the first times in his career the majority of the CROWD actually was cheering for him to win.

Holmes was a champ who went widely unappreciated until well after his best days were over.

You're missing my point. Regardless of whether Marciano could or could not compete in Holmes' era only an idiot would say what Holmes said. Every era is unique. The training conditions, the kind of training regimens fighters went through, depth of competition, frequency of fights, etc. Holmes should have just kept his big mouth shut and stopped whining for once. He was always whining, always had a chip on his shoulder. **** Holmes.

Every heavyweight champion has badmouthed a former champ and vice versa. Why should Holmes be any different?

And the incident where he said it, at the press conference following his loss to Spinks, Holmes had invited Marciano's brother to the fight as his guest ... and Marciano's brother was in the back of the room at the press conference celebrating the fact that Holmes hadn't broken his brother's record.

So it wasn't like he just pulled Rocky's name out of thin air. Marciano's brother was essentially high-fiving people in the back while Holmes was trying to process his first loss in front of the media.

Totally understandable. Mike Tyson would've been up their crying and telling Marciano's brother he'd have '****ed Rocky until he loved him.'

Try to stay on topic. I'm not talking about Mike Tyson. I'm talking about Larry Holmes. You go and post a video about Tyson acting up.

Did you seriously just claim norton is included in your atg rankings, that's ludicrous.

    Completely unacceptable

It's just opinions folks that's why we're here. Holmes doesn't need anyone to stick up for him, his accomplishments speak for themselves. I honestly didn't mean to offend anyone when I said I only knew Joshua as champ, I honestly just didn't know. I'm old school and happy.

Top 5 as well. Where exactly he slots in is a matter of debate depending what you're looking for in a boxer and how much you value aspects of other ATG's careers.

I don't rate Foreman that high. He demolished guys and then he was beaten rather easily. I see many guys who were fast with jabs beating him. He was a style fighter. Wiped out some and got beaten easily by some.. Not like a Leonard who could beat them all.

Except a prime, charged up, non-nauseous Duran. Of course, I do basically agree with you my friend.
