Fury vs schwarz or bjs vs isufi. I've never heard of either of these opponents, does anyone know them?
Both are obviously pathetic. I'd suggest Fury Schwarz is worse. For all his faults Saunders is moving up in weight, and whilst it's a bit of a joke that the fight is for a world title it's probably not as bad as some other garbage fights in the past. Fury is happy to tell everyone he's the lineal champion of the world and in the eyes of some is coming off a robbery draw against a guy who is clearly top three at heavyweight. Everyone wanted a rematch, so he ducks the rematch to serve up a joke fight against a guy absolutely nobody knows.
Saunders fight is for the full WBO supermiddleweight title. It's a brilliant opportunity for him because he gets to ease his way into the division and pick up a strap. People blaming Billy for the poor opponent are hilarious. There aren't many fighters who would turn down such a great opportunity to win a world title. Fury's fight is poor. I understand why he's taken a soft touch as he's still on the comeback trail and wants to continue to get into better shape. However, it's wrong to charge people PPV for the fight.
Fury v Schwarz is worse. Saunders has been inactive (through his own stupidity mind) and has changed trainers and moved up in weight. There's an element of opportunism in moving in as the champion vacates, but its a chance at a title and it would change the mood music around him so its probably a good choice. Fury however has gone too far backwards with the choice of opponent. I have zero interest in watching this.
I don't get people slaying this at all BJS is offered to fight for the full title, is he meant to turn it down because people haven't heard of the opponent. Not like this is a voluntary defence
Exactly. It's not PPV either. I don't see the problem here. The issues likely stem from the general dislike for Saunders. It's world championship boxing ffs. Isufi is an unknown quantity but can he be any worse than Charles Martin for example? That was PPV. Id rather watch Saunders/Isufi for WBO supermiddleweight title than bloody next gen shows or Cheeseman/Garcia, Yarde/Reeves or Smith/Eggington which have been 2019 main events.
You say that because you've got some Traveller boxer fetish. Absolutely everyone thinks the Smith Eggington card was miles better than this. The main event wasn't particularly competitive but it's still seen as miles closer than this. If 'it's not PPV' is your best defence of a card then you know it's garbage.
On Schwarz, I'm disappointed that he's jumped straight to Fury without jumping to B level opponents. I would have liked to see him operate at Euro level against the likes of Hammer/Dimitrenko instead of jumping from low level journeymen to Fury where he's nowhere near ready. On the fight itself, Schwarz is ranked high by the WBO (number 2 I think) so maybe Fury's team are looking at becoming mandatory for the WBO? Makes sense to take this fight if that's their thinking.
In what way does it make sense to aim for a WBO ranking when he could have had a rematch for the WBC title?
He didn’t get offered it. They pushed and pushed and pushed until eventually the full belt was on the line.
I think the Saunders fight is worse. Absolutely pathetic that the 6th best super middleweight in Germany is challenging for a vacant world title. With Fury you can half forgive him, he weren’t 100% (and maybe still isn’t) and then he arrived at deaths door. He needs a confidence booster and to get back in the rhythm before fighting for a world title again.
