Definitely agreed terms to fight N’Dam. The only thing I can think of is that there is a bit of a delay with the WBA sanctioning the fight with N’Dam not being ranked appropriately. Just looking at the revised WBA rankings as of May and who would have thought it that N’Dam would appear in the WBA Super Middleweight rankings at 13! Lol
Makes absolute sense given his 168 ventures so far... It's an absolute garbage fight on a poor card, to be frank. Smith should have been going onto very good things post Groves. The whole card stinks. Algieri-Coyle is probably the only competitive fight besides Kelly-Robinson, which is sure to be a stinker if you've seen Robinson fight before.
Smith's career is weird, even now Warren has reached out to Joe Gallagher to make the Saunders unification if Saunders should win, and Gallagher said Smith wants another couple of fights first. Like what is he waiting for?
Probably waiting to see how Saunders looks at 168. According to Frank, Junior wants no part of a rematch either. Unfortunately for Saunders, a slick, counter punching southpaw is not on top of any fighters wish list of opponents.
Surely Smith would take the fight no matter how good Saunders looks? Only excuse I can see is if the Canelo fight is very possible next, but if he ducks Billy Joe for any other fight it's poor.
my understanding was he was looking to unify against Plant or Direll then look at a Canelo fight begore going to light heavy
My guess is he's looking across the Atlantic rather than at domestic opponents. That's where he'd make the most money, unless Eubank JR or BJS get their respective careers back on track in a big way.
He’s 100% fighting Canelo. I’m not being big headed or anything but who told you about Canelo vs Fielding and Canelo vs Jacobs. May next year is pencilled in, they’re looking at Wembley/Anfield but have got cinco de Mayo to fall back on in Vegas. In the mean time the plan is to have a nice easy run out now and then a unification at the end of the year then leading on to a massive Canelo clash.
Sure I agree, but Canelo on the other hand would easily be the biggest payday available to Callum and there's been talk of that in recent days. If he has a couple of US fights on DAZN he could be hoping to build for that fight because Canelo's their guy after all. The other star on the horizon is Benavidez, I'd love to see that fight. Incidentally not sure just how big a draw either BJS or Eubank Jr are these days. To me both their stars have fallen quite significantly. Callum himself isn't a proven massive draw here either.
