What is your Wilder/Breazeale prediction and thoughts on the bout? Prediction. Tough one to call in that whoever lands first can take it but I think Wilder is alot faster than Breazeale who I dont think is overly fast. Breazeale has been knocked down quite alot of times for a fighter with only 21 fights. Consider Breazeale was knocked down against Mansour, knocked down against Joshua and knocked down against Ogonoh. He has shown recovery to come back but I wonder if it has taken something out of him even in victory. Wilder is coming off what I think was a fortunate draw against Fury and I am not sure if Wilder is now interested in facing Fury further down the line as I read he may be facing Ortiz and Kowancki if he gets past Breazeale. The way the last fight went may play on him a bit? I would have to favour Wilder against the slower Breazeale to win inside the distance Thoughts--- If Wilder wins, I would guess that this could be considered his biggest win Discuss
I am very very sure that Wilder is on a physical decline at this point as his weight loss suggests. He is also humbled by his “loss” to Fury and life and death struggle with grandpa care home Ortiz. So mentally he isn’t the invincible one he was. I am also certain that Breazeale is a better fighter than the one who faced AJ for example. However his career performances show he is at a certain maximum level. Power is a wonderful thing though in HW boxing and my personal pick is Wilder to win via TKO in round 10.
Wilder responds to the criticism of the Fury fight and puts on a good albeit typically limited Wilder display. Brezeale is tailor made but will show a chin and heart getting up off the canvas. It wets the appetite for his next fight - whoever it is against. Wilder KO/TKO between 5-7 rounds.
I think it will be competitive. Breazeale will win the early rounds as he pushes back Wilder and we all know Wilder doesn't care if he loses rounds as he is looking to end the fight with a right hand. Wilder will be too timid early as when he does open up Breazeale will fire back and so Wilder will be cautious and more selective with his shots, knowing there's always a danger of being countered. Wilder will no doubt at some point land a big right hand and hurt and perhaps drop Breazeale. Maybe when Breazeale over reaches with a right hand which he tends to do. His weight is too far forward on the front foot and he often over balances when throwing the right hand. I expect Wilder could land a big counter after such a punch and that's when the fight gets interesting. Wilder will go for the finish but this is when Breazeale will be at his most dangerous, wouldn't rule out Breazeale hurting Wilder as he comes in to try and finish DB off. This is Breazeale's best chance of a victory as I don't see a points decision going his way, he needs the KO and it will require Wilder leaving himself open to be countered for that to happen. Breazeale will have his moments but eventually Wilder takes Breazeale out around the 10th round. I see Breazeale going down a few times at least, he won't just fold, he'll hang in there and pick himself up off the canvas until he can't go on.
I think it will be competitive but ultimately Breazeale is too cumbersome to beat Wilder. Fast, sloppy fighter with insane power >>>>>>>> slow, sloppy fighter with very good power Wilder TKO7
Wilder will fight smart he knows what fury did to him and he will fight extremely smart around the jab. I think they both will hit the canvas but Breazeale will get knocked out round 5-7
Wilder knocks down Breazeale early, then gets ground down and stopped Froch Taylor style in the eleventh or twelfth.
Brezeale will probably trouble Deontay early, but will eventually succumb to the devastating speed and power mid to late rounds.
Heart wants - Breazeale's relative strength and determination stump Wilder, who is broken mentally, then physically. Head thinks - Breazeale survives a few rounds, then walks into a sledgehammer. Problem is, Breazeale is slow and easy to hit and I don't think all the heart in the world is going to save him. In fact, I think that makes it worse in this situation, as he's more likely to be at the receiving end of a crushing KO later on. Wilder is a poor boxer by many metrics, but he's clever in exploiting his own strengths. His punching style doesn't require bulk, so he comes in slim, meaning he still has it in the tank to take someone's head off in the later rounds. Ortiz and Fury both felt this late power. People call Wilder dumb and an ******* and he's certainly the latter. But he knows his game is limited and is actually a very good example of a boxer who works very well within both his own strengths and limitations. He knows he's too raw and too far down the line to outbox any top 20. All his strategy comes down to is this - use your height where you can, get through the worst of it, then BANG. For him this is a strategy that works in-spite, or perhaps BECAUSE, of its overwhelming simplicity. The way to beat Wilder is to knock him out early. Within 3 rounds. The longer it goes on, the more chance his opponent will lapse concentration, get caught flat-footed and BANG the windmill catches them. And I think this will happen. In 6 or 7
Should be a bit of a shoot out, wilder is faster and hits harder so will probably stop Brezeale in 5 rounds. Would be nice to see wilder get wobbled or dropped at some point though, he’s a real dickhead
