Irving Cohen managed both Rocky Graziano and Billy Graham. Who was the better of the two fighters? It seemed that Graham faced better competition overall. - Chuck Johnston
Graham was the better fighter. Rocky was the more colorful character that had the big rt hand and came along at the rt time. But make no mistake about it Graham was the better fighter of the two..
I also think that Billy Graham was better than Rocky Graziano. It seemed that Graham could do well no matter who he was fighting. Graziano had to be carefully matched during even his heyday during the middle 1940s, a period of time when professional boxing was doing very well. Of course, Graziano was the greatest gate attraction among non-heavyweights at the time. Graham's heyday was during the early 1950s, a time when professional boxing took a big hit because of societal changes and the advent of television. Graziano also had the advantage of being a very exciting brawler while Graham was known for his fine boxing skills. - Chuck Johnston
Graham clinically outpoints...outboxes Rocky. Nothing against Rocky Graz, but Graham was a class or two above him.
I was also thinking that someone like Fritzie Zivic, who did well against aggressive fighters while using his boxing skills, would also give Rocky Graziano fits. After all, Zivic did quite well against Jake LaMotta, a highly aggressive fighter who was bigger and had far more ring skills than Graziano. In fact, LaMotta would have been an absolutely nightmare matchup for Rocky, which the latter's brain trust probably knew too well. - Chuck Johnston
Graham 102 15 9 Never stopped by TKO or K.O. Beat prime Kid Gavilan by SD, and lost to prime Kid Gavilan by MD, SD & UD. Graham would outbox the Rocky G in a 10 rd fight.
