Its the movement and angle he throws it from. Hes really very inaccurate with almost all the punches he throws, but he has that ability to just take a step back, then quickly step in and launch that bomb. It happens really very quickly and it comes from a weird angle. Its almost like a haymaker a drunk woman in a bar would throw stylistically lol. Effective as hell tho.

He’s basically fighting an adult, Latino version of Hamilton “Ham” Porter, the fat kid from The Sandlot. Beating up a fat kid isn’t going to impress anyone.

Yeah, Ruiz can box a little bit. But he has never really impressed against anyone who matters — seriously, what’s his best win? Liakhovich? Zambano? Ray Austin? Kevin Johnson? Please. (Someone is going to say he could have gotten the Parker decision, but I remember well the live threads when he fought Liakovich and about half the people watching thought he got gifted that fight, lol).

It’s going to look to the American audience (which mostly won’t see it on Da-zone but might get a 4-second highlight on ESPN) like he picked on the fat kid in the Sandbox.

Breazeale almost beat that count. I mean that was about as close as it gets. Funny how Wilder darted to the neutral corner after starting to walk to the blue corner. Had he started to celebrate in the blue corner, the ref may have delayed the count. I think Deontay saw the ref and that prompted him to change direction to go to the right corner.

Another thing, Mauro Ranallo is the most annoying boxing commentator hands down. I'm talking all time. This buffoon ruined that moment with a lame "Brazil" analogy taking you out of the moment followed by another Mama Mia, this human being is an absolute travesty to the sport. Ranallo seriously needs to be removed from telecasts, it's beyond cringeworthy listening to this guy.

He wasn’t up at 10 so he was counted out, however, my questions are these
At what point did the referee pick up the count because it looked a second quicker?
Why did the ref push Breazeale back into the ropes, it gave the impression that Breazeale was more unsteady than he actually was?

Commentators and posters saying wilder definitely hits the hardest in the division and it got me thinking does he really? Watch AJ smash the heavy bag compared to Wilder and I think AJ is the more thudding puncher by far.

    What does everyone think?

Unpopular opinion: I think that 250lb AJ hits as hard if not harder he’s just faced better tougher opposition Wlad, Povetkin, Parker etc.

If he were Duran people would say this was a legit. excuse. The fact is Breazeale was finished once it landed.

Great comparison, it looked a lot like that, in how he was getting up right near 10. Foreman may have been slightly closer to legitimately beating the count but both were close.

If you know boxing, you know DB never saw it coming to react to it.

Why? Because Wilder turned his head with that heel-jab. It’s a trick Thomas Hearns used to use a lot. You can’t react to what you can’t see. That is a skill, a planned tactic that he executed (while nearly executing DB).

Wilder also has hand speed. If you can’t notice and appreciate that, you probably should stick to another sport.

Anything short of Joshua nearly killing Ruiz or at bare minimum, knocking Ruiz out totally unconscious, is going to have to be considered a failure on Joshua's behalf.

This is a borderline spite and a disgraceful mismatch that is being allowed here. Joshua should consider eternal self-torture if he isn't able to literally blast away / put Ruiz to sleep in absolute super quick time, due to sheer embarrassment.

Public should be allowed to throw stones at Joshua, if he isn't fulfilling this bare minimum requirement.

It was a good set up fight for him. He has great power and anyone he fights might have to take big punches, so that would be nerveracking for anyone fighting him, yet if you look at Wilder's legs they are very thin. I know for a fact he cannot absorb a big punch. If anyone can take him a few rounds and land a hard punch on him he would be in trouble. He has not fought many guys to hurt him, yet he was hurt a year ago or so.
